Happy Father's Day, Dad -- Here's Some Crap: Orioles at Phillies Game Thread, June 21, 2009
Baltimore Orioles at Philadelphia Phillies, Jun 21, 2009 1:35 PM EDT
Meeting Pops at the game, where he will get a free Bucket Hat, if not particularly inspired baseball. I can only do what I can. At least Hamels is pitching...

we’ve lost five in a row and we’re still two games up. Maybe the magic number to win the division is 36.

Howard is back in the hospital, dehydrated/flu. Dobbs at 1B.
Meanwhile, Hamels through the first with 2Ks.

Hamels’ pitches were pretty filthy. I liked what I saw, and the mixing of the pitches was fabulous. Hopefully he keeps it up.

well, if you exploit some market inefficiencies, as they say in Moneyball, you can make your jackpot dollars go further even in this Great Recession. By the NovaCare complex, anyway, they stop collecting $ for parking at 7.30. And, by that time, and without much trouble you can get a lower level seat ($42 retail) for about $20 or, if you want to go real cheap, just get SRO.
My problem was, I went on Tuesday night, so had to endure the Barajas-Rolen late inning elephant train.

I was there on Wednesday, where it was just general malaise and Grampa’s crappy early inning meltdown.

Wait...the Phils have a run and the opposition doesn't.
Is that allowed?

sure. But what’s not allowed is that the opposition may not remain scoreless in the ensuing half inning.

Yeah, it is almost positive that the Phillies will give back runs they have scored in one way, shape or form.

I just want to note the irony of the Sportscenter ads where Jelly Roll ‘watches tape’ with Scott Van Pelt. Seems to me that he watches more tape of SVP than he does of his own hitting and/or opposing pitchers.

so true, so true, so true. I would like to have a 10-0 score going into the top of the 9th and I still wil be nervous unless Cole is pitching still.

Okay, now it’s time for the offense to wake up.
by myrestingpulse_121bpm on Jun 21, 2009 3:00 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
did you notice that most of their hits are bloopers. the only one that got good contact was Roberts on that double. It just seems like that has happened throughout this homestand. It just gets really annoying

Question
Just following on GameCast – does it seem like pretty much nothing is happening in this game? A solo homer for the Phillies and a two-out single after it looked like Hamels might avoid trouble in the sixth. And we’re already in the bottom of the seventh. Strange.
by phillyinportland on Jun 21, 2009 3:17 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
You are getting more action on the gamecast than we are on TV

I say keep Cole in for 9 innings cause I don’t want to see Madson today after his debacle yesterday

Maybe Chan Ho, Romero, and Tyler Walker instead of Madson for now.

When we hit the road, that is when it will turn around cause the pitchers will finally figure out that they aren’t in the Bank and will pitch without any fear of making a mistake.

How is it possible that we are still in 1st Place?!?!?!?!?

Because the Mets are terrible, too?
And you play in a division that features the Washington Nationals.
