Fish Fish Fish Fish Fish Fish Fish: Phillies at Rays Game Thread, June 23, 2009

Philadelphia Phillies at Tampa Bay Rays, Jun 23, 2009 7:08 PM EDT

It's a 2008 World Series rematch!  Awesome angle!  Revenge?  You betcha!

Young-ass lefty David Price vs. Old-ass lefty Jamie Moyer.  Will we get a standard 5 1/3 IP, 9 K, 7 BB, 110 pitch outing from Price, or will he own us like everyone else has lately?  I'm picking the latter, sadly.

Discuss the game below.

W-L G GS CG SHO SV BS IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP
2009 - Jamie Moyer 4-6 13 13 0 0 0 0 72.1 93 51 51 16 18 42 6.35 1.53

Why do the Phillies hate being home so much? Is it our home-cooking? has it not been good lately?

It is probably just a fluke

keep in mind they played the Blue Jays, Red Sox and Orioles recently who are all pretty good teams (even the Orioles). I wouldnt expect 1-8 against those teams, but something like 3-6 wouldnt be all that much of a surprise

by Whack8888 on Jun 23, 2009 7:21 PM EDT reply actions

you also have to look at the way we lost a few of those games. Blown saves are like something brand new to us after last year.

According to ESPN they average 22,700 appro at home this year (are there 22K people at that game?) – i wonder how many of those are red sox games – when the sox fans sell out.

Their average attendance this year is up ‘500 fans’ per game basically – so they’re basically flat…

yeah I think it was built for football at first and that didn’t work out. Partially why the marlins have terrible attendance is because baseball in the hot sun isn’t too appealing. (by partially I mean a small percentage, I was told so by a Marlin fan)
