Wow, a chance to take two of three. Who’da thunk?

Sadly, I always expect Howard to fail in this situation. Esp. vs. a lefty.

Somebody needs to tell Mayberry to step into pitches when swinging. He looks like he is bailing on any pitch on the outer half of the plate.

Milt, Charlie, they can hire me for 50 grand a year to show him. I can work cheap.

mlb.com is confused
They have a picture of Moyer with the Cincinatti-Cleveland box score underneath.

record?
So Eric Bruntlett is now 0 for 12 since Rollins was benched Thursday night. Rollins was 0 for 19 before that. I’d love to find out if their combined 0 for 31 is some kind of offensive futility record for multiple guys at a position.

First and second, no outs in the third. Maybe try a double steal?

Mayberry’s going to spend his career with announcers saying, “He doesn’t get cheated up there.”

Well, at this rate it looks like Moyer can eat up six innings and allow six to eight runs. Is it better to leave hi m out there for that type of beating – and a probable loss – or do you take your chances with an iffy bullpen, probably starting with Durbin now that Park is injured. I wish I felt Moyer could get through the next three innings without letting in more runs, but right now it doesn’t seem likely.

C’mon, time for a big rally here.
by phillyinportland on Jun 28, 2009 2:15 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Not a big rally, but from this part of the lineup, I’ll take what we’ve gotten so far. Would be nice if Chase found a gap here though.

Well, like I said.
With the good part of their lineup coming up in the 5th, unless we score four or five here I’d say that should be short-leash time.

I’ll take it. Even the Beard has contributed decently today.

I think it is time for Mayberry to be sent down, to learn to how to hit properly.
by WanderingMoses on Jun 28, 2009 2:28 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
When Ibanez comes back, I’m sure he’ll go down. At 25, he might be what he is, and he seems streaky, so I wouldn’t worry too much about this bad weekend. He’s probably a useful fourth OF when he comes up to stay.

Looks like Hill has hit Moyer pretty well overall. Gamecast showed him 8 for 20 (.400) with a HR coming into today.

Werth walks, probably two pitches after he should have. First and second, one out. Really would be nice to add a couple on here. Chase has to be patient…

Questionable double steal try, fail. Doing that with Ruiz maybe not so smart, though it was a tremendous throw.

Ho in the game. Might not work out, but I think a prudent move given the CGSho yesterday and the off-day tomorrow. Use ’em all if you need to.

by phillyinportland on Jun 28, 2009 3:43 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Theoretically, it could be as such, but it just looked as Bruntlett dropped it while attempting to throw it to Utley on what should have been an inning ending DP

My video cut out—I thought he merely dropped a throw from Ruiz on a steal attempt. Motherlover.

I think it was the right call leaving in Madson there. You don’t want the Walk Machine pitching with the bases loaded.

I’m a bit surprised they won’t PH Dobbs here. Could either keep him in LF or switch Bruntlett and put Rollins in at shortstop.

Hanson
Looks like this kid Tommy Hanson might be the Braves new star pitcher. Six innings today, no runs, two hits vs. the Red Sox. I guess we won’t see him vs. the Phillies this week, probably will later this season, though.
