Local writers score ‘best’ at Philly Press awards
Vanore’s first place was for Column Writing Weekly Division. His column was critical of the profanity used by the Phillies’ Chase Utley during last October’s World Series celebration. "Aside from the fact that he said what he did in front of countless young fans," Vanore noted, "what compounded it for me was that I really did like this guy, not just as a player, but as a young man."
Oh no, he said a bad word... SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!

VP and Second Lady have our backs
Vice President Joseph Biden attended a fund-raiser recently at Fenway Park in Boston, during which Gov. Deval L. Patrick presented him with a Red Sox jersey. It has VPOTUS and the number 2 on the back. But it seems that won't play, at least not with one Philadelphia Phillies fan. "The fact of the matter is, I love your team but my wife's from Philly," Biden said of Jill Biden. He called her "the most rabid" Phillies fan. To laughter, the vice president told those gathered: "I will wear this proudly as long as my wife is not around."

I’ll bet Taylor will go to AAA after the Eastern League all-star game.
I don’t know if I like the idea of bringing Carrasco up. He’s had all of two good starts in a row. Still very inconsistent and apparently still has things to work on. If it’s just for one game, I guess it’s not such a big deal.
Hopefully they’re not going to use this as a showcase for a Brad Penny trade or something stupid like that.

Hey check it, there’s a dude named Steve Susdorf at Clearwater who’s 16 for 33 since being promoted. I guess he’s a tad old for Clearwater, but still.

Taylor just went 4 for 5 today with two doubles. Now hitting .545 in his last eight games, with four homers and four doubles.
Sheesh.
