Jayson Werth-safe bet for all star game?

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?playerId=4262

Star-divide

Looks like Jayson Werth should take Carlos Beltran's spot in the all star game. Among Outfielders Werth ranks 2nd in runs, 3rd in homeruns, 5th in RBI, 8th in stolen bases, 2nd in walks, 9th in OBP, 7th in slugging, and 7th in OPS. The only other player in the top 10 in those categories is Justin Upton+ he is already in the all star game. So be on the lookout for Werth patrolling in right or center late in the game.  IF Charlie chooses an outfielder is anyone else more qualified?!  The only way I could see Werth not making it now would be if Manuel picks an infielder.  Also, other than OBP where he ranks 23rd, Werth ranks top 15 in all of those categories league wide.

nope

He’ll take Matt Kemp because the players voted him higher.

The player vote does not matter. Because Beltran was voted in by the fans, Charlie could choose anyone he wants. He could bring Chan Ho Park if he wanted to.

IT will be Werth or Sandoval. KEmp stands 0 chance of making it.

if Pedroia doesn't go

Kinsler is a shoe in

(Pedroia’s wife is in the hospital expecting a baby)

Kemp won’t go, it’ll probably be Sandoval b/c he’s a multi-positional player, victorino will take Beltran’s spot in Center. if Charlie take Werth, then i think people will be outraged with another phillies outfielder going, even though his numbers are great and he is on fire right now. Werth will probably be the next guy on the list

Other than batting Average Werth is top 10 in every major offensive category. No one could possbily be outraged if they were educated. BJ upton is the only one in the top 10 of all those categories and werth numbers mostly dwarf uptons also. IF Jaysons BAtting Average was 20 points higher this is not even a debate

Werth should go...

But Charlie would look like too much of a homer. Werth has been better than Victorino this year, but I would really be suprised if Sandoval wasnt the replacment. Plus, the team does need more infielders (even though Werth would probably be a better 3rd basemen than Sandoval, seriously, that guy BLOWS at defense).

I have watched nearly all SF games this year and Sandoval has played great defense at 3b all year long. Only 4 errors with several web gems. He’s definitely been a surprise with the leather and his .328/.380/.560 hitting line w/ 13 HR’s and 50 ribbies (with a bad offense in a pitcher’s park) is a nice should be an all-star resume.

Congrats on Victorino but

Sandoval is much more deserving of the Beltran’s spot. Despite his size he play decent third base and destroys most current all-stars in offensive stats. I don’t know what phillies fans have against him, but Sandoval is an all-around good guy and player and deserves to be in the all star Game. Hopefully Manuel will make the right call.

We all know Sandoval is more deserving. I don’t think anyone would debate that. But sometimes that doesn;t matter when it’s your guy.

the 33rd player vote was not for Beltran's spot

if Beltran isn’t ready to play, then they’ll probably give Sandoval, Werth, or Reynolds a call
