Phillies Breakfast Links, July 17, 2009: Raauuuullll, Forecasting Pedro, Minor Disappointments.
Phillies Notebook: Lopez feeling fit, eyes return to Phillies rotation
Rodrigo Lopez expects to make his next scheduled start. Will he then be supplanted in the rotation by Pedro, or... ???
Pedro’s New Digs | FanGraphs Baseball
Fangraphs takes a quick look at Pedro Martinez, and what we can expect from him this season.
Bill Conlin: Halladay trade talk has ripple effect
So what if Ruben shrewdly packages, say, J.A. Happ, Kyle Drabek, just-promoted Michael Taylor, Antonio Bastardo and Anthony Gose and BlackBerrys the deal to Ricciardi? And the Blue Jays' lame-duck GM takes it and runs. What if . . . What if it turns out the Phillies were the only bidder?
Kendrick win has familiar ring to it
Kyle Kendrick pitched well for the IronPigs in a 5-4 win over Rochester, while new 'Pig Michael Taylor went hitless. WTF tuxedo jerseys?
R-Phils shoot blanks in first game minus big gun, fall to New Britain 5-2.
Questionable headline. And Yohan Flande struggled, too.
Braves beat Francoeur, Mets
It's to the point where I might start rooting for the Mets when they play our other NL East rivals.
Phillies' Ibanez a true success story
Seems like a great guy, and easy to root for. The home runs help quite a bit, too.
Phillies Notes: Phils' Hamels gets extra rest
Hope that helps.
Details of Dykstra marriage emerge from divorce papers
The divorce does not appear to be amicable. Terri Dykstra requested a restraining order after Lenny Dykstra sent her text and e-mail messages like this one from May 19: "PLAYING MR. NICE GUY IS OVER." Terri Dykstra said in her court filings that he also left her a voice mail in May stating: "From now on everything is going to be bad, the war is ready to begin and I play ... dirty!"

Dykstra restraining order denied
While the Dykstra restraining order claims were juicy, I think it would have been fair to include the part where the judge, who presumably took testimony and observed the parties in person, denied the request:
“The court denied Terri’s request for a restraining order.”
Dykstra is evidently not just a retired Major League player, but is also a present Major League turd. Still, not being “Mr. Nice Guy” can mean many things in the context of a divorce. Kicking her ass is not even close to being on the top of that last, especially if you are even halfway sophisticated about it.
I’ve always said I’d take a good honest crack dealer as a client before I’d take a family law case. Dykstra v. Dykstra just validates that further for me.

truth
Criminal Court features bad people on their very best behavior; Family Court features (generally) good people on their very worst behavior.

Macho Row
It’s like the brand of roids the 93 club took were laced with acid. Only way to explain Daulton, Dykstra, Danny Jackson (even at the time), and the occasional remarks out of Kruk’s mouth on ESPN.
Actualy, just plain stupid explains it all pretty well
