Amaro's legacy about to be written...
Half way through his first year as GM.
If he fails on Halladay and someone else gets him, Amaro (fair or not) will be crushed.
If he overpays for Halladay and we win...success.
I want to see if Amaro can pull off a good trade and I don't care about the end result (in terms of evaluating the trade).

yeah but
Kendrick won games, never dominated. This kid seems to dominate games and barely let opponents past 2nd base.
Except that now there are some numbers to back up the fact that maybe it’s luck and he’s not as dominant as you think

i like happ, dont get me wrong but i do feel like he will never be a clean cut number 1 pitcher… my guess is a consistent 3 guy +/- 1 spot… but hey we might be able to lock him up at a reasonable price for a consistent guy and id take that.

Amaro’s legacy is defined in his first half season as a GM??
A little ridiculous don’t you think??
Did we not learn anything from Gillick? Werth, Moyer, Lidge, Rowand, Feliz, Blanton…Which one of those moves were on the Halladay level?? We left Sabathia on the table, and still managed to ruin him and the team that traded for him at the deadline.
Right...
Was Gillick crushed last season for not getting CC?

It wasn’t written as clearly as it could have been, but given the context, especially the last sentence of the post, my reading is that “crushed” is supposed to refer to public perception. His point was that Amaro will be heavily criticized if he doesn’t trade for Halladay, not necessarily that Amaro should trade for Halladay.
The phillies seemed better positioned last year than they are this year, plus they were freakishly healthy, which they aren’t this year – if the ‘hope’ the ‘non halladay guys’ have is that happ can continue to measure this continued level of luck in his pitching – well – remember that when he comes back to earth

if we don't care
about end results, can’t we just call Amaro a failure and be done with it? To tell you the truth, I thought we already did that…
I’m still confused by the premise…a legacy can’t be written until the time is done. If the phillies win a couple more titles, and consistently contend under the ‘amaro stewardship’ with or without obtaining Halladay I’d have to think his legacy would be fine and dandy.
