No Mo Moyer, please
Moyer is done. Will he be able to shut down stupid teams every now and then? Sure. But the dude is somehow 9-7 with 5.65 ERA.

It's tough to win with that inconsistency. If Halladay comes here, Moyer has to be banished to the pen.

two-year deal*
he should of retired after we won the WS.
While there’s certainly room for improvement, as Moyer isn’t great, I don’t think there’s cause for panic either. For the last two months, Moyer has performed about well as one might expect from a back-of-the-rotation starter. 12 G, 4.42, 41 K, 16 BB, 10 HR, .268 BAA. Not unlike Hiroki Kuroda or Armando Galarraga, by way of comparison.
His horrible start to the year is obviously a basis for concern, but given the trendlines, I suspect it was a bit of a fluke (just like his surprising level of effectiveness in 2008 was). I’m not saying we shouldn’t replace him, just that we shouldn’t feel too much urgency over it.
How many back of the rotation starters do we want? What does that even mean anyway? Hamels is not getting results, but pitching dencently. Happ is way over his head. Blanton may be over his head too lately. Pedro? Lopez? An Ace and four 5s may win you a ton of money playing poker, but it doesn’t help you win games. Maybe that’s extreme calling them all “5s” but you get my drift.
You certainly seem to be very complacent and are ignoring that luck may be a significant factor over the first 90 games or so.
For Who? My teammates.
For What? To Win.
How Much? Where do I sign?
[Shrugs.] I actually agree that “back of the rotation” (like “#1,” “#2,” etc.) isn’t a very meaningful term. Let’s put it this way. I think this rotation is about as good as last year’s and, barring flukes, would cumulatively put up ERAs around 4 and a quarter. I think that’s worse than ideal, but good enough not to get panicked over. I also think that we’re highly likely to get into the playoffs with our team as presently constituted, and that playoff series are basically crapshoots. So from all that, I would conclude that we should look to improve as always, but that we can and should be cautious in doing so.
Blanton is not a 5.
He is a 3 or 4, but certainly not a 5!
Happ is definately not a 5 either! Right now he is pitching like he should be our #1!
I would have our rotation go like this: Hamels, Blanton, Happ, Moyer, and Lopez, and when Pedro arrives, demote Moyer to the minors or the bullpen if Lopez is still pitching well. It would not be fair to Lopez of he is pitching lights out and he gets demoted simply because of Moyers new contract and his age.
Moyer is a 5 at best, and maybe he will retire after this year, to make way for one of the young pitchers that we boast in our farm system.
