I introduced myself (to Pedro), shook his hand, and started the conversation by asking him what a coincidence it was for his first outing as a Phillie to come against the New York Mets high A affiliate. His response was, "It is not a coincidence my friend, it is destiny."

If Pedro is halfway decent, you guys will love him
He is just so fun to watch have fun, if that makes sense. I am also one of the Met fans who feel like this guy definitely still has gas in the tank. He hasn’t been healthy in so long, people have forgotten how awesome he can be. Even if 2005, he wasn’t really healthy, and dominated the NL. He is throwing with the same velocity as he was in 2005 when he was a CY young kind of starting pitcher. The curveball and changeup have always been there, and were there last year. The only real issue was his command, missing out over the plate a lot, throwing a lot of fat pitches. Coming back from shoulder surgery they say command is the last thing to return. This whole diminished velocity myth is wrong. Checkout his average velocity from last year and compare it 2005. Stuff is the same.
