Since the incompetent Indians were unable to pry away even 1 of the Phillies top 3 prospects (Drabek, Brown & Taylor) and didn't even get Happ, should Ruben Amaro now turn to Toronto and trade for Roy Halladay in addition to Cliff Lee?
He should conceivably be able to do so; Toronto's proposed package was an entirely different group of players than the ones Cleveland got. Obviously Philly loses a bunch of good to great homegrown players with the potential for superstardom but you'd be acquiring the next best thing to a guarantee of a repeat WS or more. While Philly has made themselves the clear-cut favorite in the NL with Lee and a strong contender for the title, they're still no sure thing. Halladay could change that, just imagine the rotation: Halladay, Lee, Hamels, Blanton, Myers/Pedro/Moyer. Its like a fantasy baseball team except it could actually happen. So is the potential of the first three-peat since the 70's A's worth trading away the future?
