Wily Old FOX: Mets at Phillies Game Thread, September 12, 2009
New York Mets at Philadelphia Phillies, Sep 12, 2009 4:05 PM EDT
So Jamie Moyer has his wish, and the Phillies are a few bills poorer for it. Double-headers and injuries pushed him back into the rotation in this afternoon's game versus the visiting Mets. He'll be opposed by Mike Pelfrey. I'll be there, and likely soggy. Oh well.
Depending on where you live, the game will be broadcast on FOX. Check your local listings.

Where art thou JA Happ?

Obviously if you’re gritty enough, your team will never trade you… Thanks for the nugget Tim!

And who is this chump in the booth with Timmy today? I don’t recognize his voice, but he’s a complete waste of space as well. At least McCarver knows a FEW facts about the Phils… This guy knows nothing at all.

I don’t care if he was a Cowboys fan, at least he doesn’t say things like “Yummy says Feliz”

Thet don’t add value. He can say that the foul pole is yellow, and while that’s factually accurate, it doesn’t add anything to the broadcast

Still better than what McCarver would say. Instead of saying “the foul pole is yellow”, Tim would say “they were going to paint the pole yellow, but instead they painted it yellow”

Okay. Might be worth watching now. Assuming Grandpa doesn’t give em right back in the top of the third.
I was kinda hoping Jamie would get beaned so that exact thing doesn’t happen

Nice to see a comeback again. Of course I can’t really see it because out here we get the White Sox vs. the Angels.

Just checked in and boy there sure is a lot of anti-Moyer sentiment on this site – why not let up a little and see how it goes instead of yelling take him out and hoping he gets beaned. That’s harsh.

It’ll be interesting to see how long Pelfrey lasts. Knowing there’s a doubleheader tomorrow, Jerry will try to ride him for as many innings as possible.
Both teams are in this position so it looks like we’re gonna have to slug it out.

I don’t understand how sports people pick their announcers….
Here’s my list of people I have to listen to and abhor:
McCarver
Buck
Morgan
Vitale
Keith Hernandez
Mark Grace
I also don’t like the Marlins peeps or The Hawk…but I generally am not forced to listen to them. I don’t think I’m in the minority here. I don’t understand why the stations don’t know that.
Give me Jon Miller, Vin Scully, Bob Costas…..
never really bugged me. I can see how he would, but he had a ‘tune outtable’ voice to me, and I find some of his ‘how-it-works’ knowledge enlightening once in a while.
He sounds like a buffoon, but I really think he knows his football.
I don’t question his football knowledge, I just can’t stand how he colors the ENTIRE screen when depicting a replay

If i’m writing a program that displays the code of a python file (via an html page), is it possible to make sure the indentations show up if i used tab to set them up in my file?

ummm, if I remember correctly… as long as your text is being displayed within a paragraph tag within the html, it should translate tabs correctly… again, it’s been awhile and protocol may have changed as well

Didn’t work – ah well – thanks – ran through various google searches and the python library and couldn’t find anything – if that’s the only issue after i finish this whole thing no big deal – considering i haven’t done any ‘real’ programming in decades (php doesn’t count right?)

It just frustrates me how lazy it is. Sure, Francoeur has a cannon for an arm, but he has no idea where it’s going half the time. Still, I guess it’s just easier to act like Frenchy is one of the more feared outfield arms in baseball than to actually watch him once or twice and realize the truth.
Jayson's arm just as strong and much more accurate

I’m guessing Utley didn’t want to test Francoeur’s arm on that fly ball by Howard.

Theoretically
If the AL has better hitting, wouldn’t they require better pitching to account for the better hitting. We’ve seen AL pitchers move over to the NL and dominate

Fuck. I am not so concerned about the loss. I thought we would lose after the first 5 batters. I am more bothered by the fact that the chance we preserve a lead in the 9th has become almost as likely as the chance that we blow it.
I think it doesn’t matter anymore who is put in there in the 9th. Might as well just keep putting Lidge now.
Probably be the only way to wash down the bitterness of today’s loss.
