This late season call up stuff is a joke. You can’t even get into a bullpen and hurt it now, they’ve got like 18 guys out there. It makes no sense to allow the last 30 games in a year to have different rules than the rest of the year.

I thought that might be the Phils strategy too, but apparently the Roles School of Thought prevailed (joined in a sensible coalition with the Rest Young Arms School). To be fair, it looks like the Phils, after seven winning seasons, are starting the Typical Postseason Team™ behavior of guys waking up in late September to get ready. There really wasn’t much use for our high minor league pitchers with these other hurt bullpenners in various stages of DL-dom.

Well, Ibanez has done really well in the past against the Nats and Victorino has probably gotten the least rest out of all the outfielders. I am guessing that is what this is all about.
