The Phillies conclude their season series with the Washington Nationals tonight in Philadelphia, as Cole Hamels will try to extend the string of goose eggs laid by his fellow starting pitchers through a fourth game. Ross Detwiler goes for the Nationals.

what’s sad is that I think Cincy has a better chance of beating them than the Cards did. The cardinals are in shut down mode (ala the Cubs last year) already.
otoh,
we can pull into a season record tie with the Cards if we win tonight.

(doing my best LA impersonation...)
This late season call up stuff is a joke. You can’t even get into a bullpen and hurt it now, they’ve got like 18 guys out there. It makes no sense to allow the last 30 games in a year to have different rules than the rest of the year.
Hey Larry...
THE PHILS PLAY BY THE SAME RULES AS ALL THE OTHER TEAMS. THEY CAN CALL UP PEEPS AND USE THEM IF THEY WANT TOO AS WELL!
I thought that might be the Phils strategy too, but apparently the Roles School of Thought prevailed (joined in a sensible coalition with the Rest Young Arms School). To be fair, it looks like the Phils, after seven winning seasons, are starting the Typical Postseason Team™ behavior of guys waking up in late September to get ready. There really wasn’t much use for our high minor league pitchers with these other hurt bullpenners in various stages of DL-dom.

That's a riot.
Wow. If half of that stuff about Wheels is true, then I’ve lost some respect.

"This is a really weird book!"
Ninety-nine pages out of a hundred, you get pretty much what you expect, and then he goes and writes that. It’s just one of those books.

Stupid.
Please stop wasting opportunities against Ross Detwiler and his sparkling 6.17 ERA.

wow. the television and refresh on my browser were still about a second faster than the radio. thanks for ruining it.
turn on the radio and go for the complete time warp.

looked pretty good to me. He crowds the plate. So long as the ump keeps the zone wide as the sea, we have one run.

there's probably a good reason why
he is a former Phillie

Yeah, jonk wants to see Colbert’s ERA down below 4 by the end of the season.

We can hope….but not holding the ol’ breath.

Zimmerman is without a doubt my favorite NL East opposing player.

listening to the radio…it’s hard to tell what’s a good play or not. Frantzke starts every ball of by acting like it’s going to fall in, then clamoring how so and so made a spectacular catch.
he was in a full run before falling backwards, over the tarp, into the first row to make the catch.

Not really listening to them, per se, just that even on low volume, Carpenter’s excitement blew out the tv speakers.

Never heard that before, despite working around teens for 8 hours a day.

it is quite remarkable and distinct when he loses his cool
by CoburnsCuddleBuddy on Sep 17, 2009 9:04 PM EDT up reply actions
didn't look like he lost his cool like he did earlier in the season
by SmilingJPhilsPhan on Sep 17, 2009 9:05 PM EDT up reply actions
he lost his cool and got it back against the Nats
Id be curious to see if he is able to do that against a lineup that has the likes of a Pujols and Holliday, and not one of Bard, Dunn and Zimmerman

Interesting move because Vic is something like 1-10/11 in the series. I am guessing they will shift the OF around, or move Benny Lava to CF.
Spiderman, get in here!
These reports were due an hour ago! (Spider Man herein pronounced “spidermin”)

Get this guy out and be done with it
I’d rather not be “Dunn” with it yet. Top 9, no one on base, sure.

That can't be a good feeling.
Imagine being at work and your boss tells you, “I’m giving you a small chance to prove yourself, and if you screw up, then I’ve got your replacements in training right now.”
After the year he’s had, I’d imagine no fun for Lidgey-poo.
Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?
I think that one was avoidable – lack of communication on the part of the OF.
