No kidding . . .
if you need your best relief pitcher in the 7th or 8th … bring him in then! And if he’s too tired to get 3 outs in the 9th after pitching the 7th and/or the 8th well, who cares? Theoretically you brought him in early to either get out the meat of the opponents lineup or because you had men on base. Hopefully whoever spells your best reliever can get 3 measly outs!
