'Last time he saw me pitch, I wasn't doing well,'' quipped Kendrick, referring to the end of the 2008 season when he was struggling with the Phillies. ''I'm just trying to work as deep as I can and have quality outings.''
Myers then ran over to Kendrick's locker and punched him in the crotch, then yelled YOU JUST BEEN PUNK'D!!

HAMELS: THANKS, METS - Philled In
"When you play the Mets, knowing the [depleted] team they have, and all of a sudden, you’re getting beat by the bench guys, you have to really put things in perspective," Hamels said last night. "You can’t get the ‘A’ guys out, and you can’t even get the ‘B’ guys out, you’ve got a problem. So, that’s when I decided to go out there and break it down to simple and know what are the reasons why I got to the big leagues. I really tried not to stress myself out in going out there and trying to be too good or trying to fall into those expectations."

Lincecum yes, Lee no...
Great win last night, but that Giants team is scary. They’ve got to be the team no one wants to face in the postseason. Makes me glad that our batters get a chance to get more experience with solving Lincecum tomorrow while they don’t get a chance to get more comfortable batting against Lee in the event of a playoff matchup down the line.
I’ll grant you that those pitchers are real good. But the lineup Hamels faced last night was pretty anemic. Sandoval in his ph appearance worked a walk, but could barely physically walk, and that after a travel day/day off. Whatever ails him doesn’t look like it’s going to get better anytime soon. I know pitching dominates in the playoffs, but the flipside is true as well: if good offenses struggle to score runs, how will the Giants do it?

Exactly
“Pitching wins in the playoffs” is lazy (not accusing you of this, WL). The Giants have (probably) slightly better starting pitching than the Phillies. But their offense is horrific, and the Phillies offense is quite good. If they end up meeting in the playoffs, are the Giants favorites simply because their pitcing is a little better? I don’t think so.
The same thing that is wrong with eric bruntlett at the plate…he sucks

From the Carrasco article
" So if you’re into bookkeeping, you’ve got Carrasco getting hammered in his big-league debut. At Class AAA Columbus, infielder Jason Donald is on the disabled list with a stiff back. At Class A Lake County, right-hander Jason Knapp, who had an MRI performed on his right shoulder over the weekend, is probably shut down for the rest of the year because of biceps tendinitis.
Those are three of the four players the Indians received for Lee, who is 5-1 for the Phillies with a 1.80 ERA since the July 29 trade. Catcher Lou Marson, the fourth player, is still playing at Columbus where Carrasco went 5-1 after the trade. "

Carrasco
Was not ready for the bigs yet. Even the Phillies knew that. Don’t know why Cleveland would rush him up so soon. I know he put up some big stats in the minors but the guy is known to be quite emotional.
They just wanted a look at him, I guess. I wouldn’t have done it myself, but bringing a prospect up before he’s ready isn’t so bad when your games don’t count for anything. I’m sure they did their best to emphasize to him that he shouldn’t put too much pressure on himself.
Anyway, I agree that it’s silly to be gloating about the trade after a total of five weeks. We did well for ourselves, but I don’t think we ripped Cleveland off, nor did we need to.
Oh, I’m not gloating. I think it was a fair trade—more than fair—and I expect at least 2 of them if not more to be more than servicable MLB players.
Kendrick - how to get value for him
Since Kendrick is stuck at AAA, why can’t the Phillies just trade him for Tim Redding and keep Redding at Lehigh Valley. Kendrick = WAR of 0 at LV and Redding gives at least 2-3 wins to the Phillies each season that they don’t have to face him.
