It would be fantastic if we could get the Milwaukee Massacre going here, where the margin for runs over the four game set would like +40.

Big man continues to rake. Double scores Utley, 1-0.

by dajafi on Sep 24, 2009 8:17 PM EDT reply actions

Um, single. Surprised that he didn’t get two, but I guess that was how the Brewers defended it.

by dajafi on Sep 24, 2009 8:18 PM EDT up reply actions

hart cut that off reasonably quick. dont risk getting thrown out at second before run scores.

gotta love scoring from first on a single.

by dajafi on Sep 24, 2009 8:36 PM EDT reply actions

Don’t understand giving him the 3-0 green light. Because a) you know he is going to swing no matter what and b) you know he is going to be swinging for the fences as opposed to trying to make solid contact.

by FuquaManuel on Sep 24, 2009 8:36 PM EDT reply actions

if you don’t give him the 3-0, he’s going to swing anyway most likely.

RISP fails and late blown leads are two of the three most frustrating things a team can present its fans with. (I’d say that #3 is pitchers who just can’t throw strikes.) This team has given us a ton of both this year, along with the 88 wins.

I honestly don’t think it was that bad for Walker. swinging bunt, a fast ball just off the plate that a guy copied Chase, etc…

Anyway, it is over. And yes, if it was Lidge, would have been out.

Yes…otherwise they’d be calling him the pinch-looker

Condrey gets into the 9th inning spirit by allowing a first-pitch single.

by dajafi on Sep 24, 2009 11:12 PM EDT reply actions

so leadoff hitters getting on is now the traditional start to the Phillies’ 9th inning.

Jesus….Howard, catch the GODDAMN FUCKING BALL!!!

by Wet Luzinski on Sep 24, 2009 11:12 PM EDT reply actions

why break with tradition?

by Bob_StudioZ on Sep 24, 2009 11:12 PM EDT reply actions

hey, Condrey just wants to make it a game…

by vanrambler on Sep 24, 2009 11:12 PM EDT reply actions

I would like to go on record as hating the “defensive indifference” tradition the Phils have evidently embraced.

by dajafi on Sep 24, 2009 11:15 PM EDT reply actions

I think that is what they do best in the 9th inning! Atleast this year!

by DeanH on Sep 24, 2009 11:16 PM EDT up reply actions

4-3, run scores. Two outs.

by dajafi on Sep 24, 2009 11:16 PM EDT reply actions

Couple more hits and it becomes a save situation…..HORRAY!!

Isn’t there one motherfucker on this team who can pitch a clean 9th? Shit goddamn.

Clay isn’t exactly helping his postseason roster candidacy right now.

Thank God for Mike Cameron

His career statistics are kind of remarkable. Almost by definition, he is just slightly above what the “replacement player” is in the VORP statistic. But the steadiness of his performance is amazing.

I still remember some sports site running a story...

“What if Brett Favre were a woman? Would you dump her by now?”

I think Green Bay’s defense would hit it.

Sorry, shamelessly stolen from a Fark headline. =p

jesus

Time to cast my vote for closer candidacy: Eric Bruntlett.
He’s mediocre at every position on the field, he’d be mediocre at closing, which is better than what we currently have…

by vanrambler on Sep 24, 2009 11:21 PM EDT reply actions

He also already hits like a pitcher, which would help your cause.

At the very least, we should at least put his picture up on the jumbotron, just to make all bats within a quarter-mile radius whimper.

Guess I missed all the excitement again. Oh, well, a lot better than last night. Congrats to all the winners.
