Upon graduation from college, Beast, Natty Light, and IC Light were eliminated completely from my pallet.

Of those three, Natty Light has the worst review on beeradvocate. It’s a real achievement to get an F.
I retired Olympia, Red Dog, Budweiser, and Beast.
Newcastle, Guinness, Yuengling B &T, and any porter are about all that are deemed worhty now.
Yuengling is pretty much my beer of choice – will drink Corona when desperate.

It’s a nice town, but you are damn right about that. I’d rather drink piss…hell, when you drink Beast, you start wondering if that is what piss tastes like.
No sir, you get that when drinking Pittsburgh’s finest = Iron City Light

I'm sorry
Batting in front of Utley/Howard makes your runs scored number somewhat irrelevant. Quit harping on it fellas. Think of how many runs J-Roll would score if he got on base at a league average clip.
uh-oh
is it a bad cliff lee night? I sure hope not, because the Braves are getting gifted from the Nats.
Seriously, whered you other guys go?
Parra’s career line against the Phils:
6.1IP 16H 12R 12ER 1HR 8BB 7K 17.05 ERA 3.79 WHIP
It would be embarrassing to get shut down by him.
uh ohhhh
looks like ill be putting in Defiance or Hellboy 2 in a couple of mins

L.A. on the Nationals
“They can swing the bat. Outside of that, they have no baseball skills. It’s pathetic. They shouldn’t even be out on the field.”
That’s kinda hypocritical considering he isn’t really complaining about our record being padded at their expense.
I’m not really an L.A. guy, but it isn’t hypocritical so long as everyone else in our division gets to play them 18x too.
well...
When you’re facing an immortal like Manny Parra, it’s tough not to go up there almost pre-beaten.
Yep, know the feeling…..Tomo Ohka, Tim Redding, anyone else I am missing….oh yeah, Anibal Sanchez.

Ohka?
I don’t think Sanchez fits. That guy is actually pretty talented.
But I definitely would have said Yusmeiro Petit.
Right, forgot about Petit. That was an infuriating game in against the D’Bags.

After tonight, we're 6 games up with 9 to go...
… and hoping there is not another Phold of ’64 in the works.
Possible, however unlikely. No matter how unlikely, it is technically possible and not as far-fetched an idea as one might think. Consider the schedules:
Phillies – 2 more against the Brewers, 4 against the Astros (whom we can’t beat), 3 against the Marlins (always trouble).
Braves – 6 more against the Nationals, 3 against the Marlins.
Given our on-and-off pitching of late – especially in the bullpen – and given how well the Braves are playing right now (12-2 in their last 14), it is a definite possibility.
Just sayin’. I know tonight is “just one game,” but we had better take care of business because we’re not going to get any help.
Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?
As of the conclusion of NL East games tonight, the Phightin have a six game lead.
The magic number holds at 4 for the Braves and 2 for the Marlins,
with 9 games to play for Phils and Braves and 8 for Florida.
For the Braves to win they must go 9-0, while we go 2-7.
and for Florida, well, they must go 8-0 and we must lose all 9.
So you see, my friend, if we only win 3 games they rest of the season, one per series is definitely doable, and since they play a series against each other, one of them will not go unbeaten (hoping its both of them) the rest of the season.
Quod erat demonstrandum ( Q.E.D.), that basically means we are in.
How far we go from there is anyone’s guess.

Tongue in cheek, of course.
Just frustrated over here, as we all are.

It also helps isolate the problem(s)....
Lidge can’t close games and sucks balls in the 9th.
The Phillies bullpen as a whole can’t close game and sucks balls in the 9th.
Lidge still suck in the 7th.
At least we’ve isolated one problem. Now to miracle up someone who doesn’t give up 1-3 runs in the 9th each game…
jesus
if I feel this close to vomiting in the 7th inning of a game that’s already over, I can’t imagine how sick I’ll be when the playoffs start
This SHOULD be the nail in Lidge’s coffin. Failure to pitch a clean frame in garbage time should be a clear indicator to Cholly that he can’t be trusted in any situation. Shut him down.
Murphy's Law prediction...
Brewers win tonight by a score of 8-7. Philly’s late rally falls short, and Lidge’s mop up failure ends up still being the deciding run, because really… who would have it any other way?
Wouldn’t be the first time something like that has happened to us.

That's one consolation...
Sort of at least.
Florida’s quickly becoming irrelevant this season through no effort by our part. Of course with Atlanta still playing strong (and having an utter joke of a schedule if the Marlins should roll over for them), it might end up having Florida play us with our season on the line while they try to do to us what they did to the Mets for the last two years. I can’t say I like that idea…
Do you want a collapse to happen or something?

They are 7-3 in their last 10. They would have won he Marlins’ series if not for Lidge. They won the first game of this series. Sorry, I don’t see it.
