Around SBN: Bob Sapp Denies Throwing Fights

Sebastian Valle (#4), Anthony Hewitt (#11), and Leandro Castro (#16) represent the Fightins'. BA called it a somewhat disappointing year regarding the NYPL's talent level, but scouts were nonetheless intrigued by what they saw from the above trio.

For BA subscribers, full scouting reports can be found here, and Aaron Fitt's chat on the NYPL Top 20 can be found here.

Surprising they gave Hewitt the nod at 11. Seems a little high since everyone is down on him for everything but potential. I imagine he’ll have a tough time succeeding in Lakewood.

I’m excited about Castro, but with the other outfielders we have in basically every level, I doubt he’ll end up being trade bait in the next year or two. Same goes for Valle if D’Arnaud keeps performing.

It’s a testament to Hewitt’s incredible tools that he keeps getting rated so highly despite performance that can only be described as horrific. Fitt mentioned in his chat that Hewitt grades out with a 70 arm, 70 raw power, and 65 speed — then again, we’re also talking about a guy who hit .223/.255/.395 with 26 errors at third base. Fitt talked to plenty of managers who think Hewitt would be best-served with a move to right field, since he’ll never stick at 3B in the long haul.
