I liked Sal as a Phils catcher. That being said…..I’ve got mixed emotions on this one. First, I’m very sorry for him for having a child with a horrific heart disease. That’s very unfortunate and I hope it all works out.

But…..

The general perception I got from the article was “I’m a former major league baseball player who gambled and decided not to buy COBRA for $20K when I have a child who I know is going to need special surgery(s), I only make $300K and couldn’t afford the $20K for it.”

That’s a horrific mistake for a 38 year old declining catcher to make when he barely could hang onto a roster the previous year.
