oh noes
Kendrick may start this weekend

This is the new look Kendrick (the one who apparently can throw a changeup), so I vote we at least give him another shot before we write him off entirely.

Wish I could chat more tonight, but I got this pesky little thing called Back to School Night – gotta schmooze with parents. But I do have the game on the TV in my classroom.
Give them all detention for talking too much – tell them to think about what they’ve done quietly and lay the very large ruler down on your desk to emphasize your point

Too bad I don’t have any yardsticks left. The nuns who taught me took them all.

Or you assigned the game to your kids as a homework assignment and thus watching with you will help them be part of their kids education

No leadoff homerun from Pedro would be good.

He likes to make the games more exciting – make the other team think they have a chance – it’s a very gentlemanly and sporting thing of him to do

Yep. I have thought on it and I have decided that Pedro Feliz has cracked my top 10 list of least favorite ballplayers ever.
But DEFENSE

consider the other options we’ve had there since Rolen..
David Bell, Wes Helms…
(polanco would’ve been nice tho)
That doesn’t make Feliz better it just illustrates the failures of the philies since Rolen left
The Polanco think is to me one of wades biggest blunders

just sayin’….the grass ain’t always greener on the other side of the fence.
I believe Pedro is (or ‘was’) having his best OPS career year.
Which is sad in and of itself if this is his best

Dear God Almighty.
Between our 4-game losing streak, the godawful Nationals broadcast crew and this mediocre friggin pitcher shutting us down through 4 innings, I think I may be at a breaking point.
Stringing together a couple hits here
Would feel very good. Any runs would be good but the Phils are about due for a big one.

Except that with Happ hurt and moyer questionable you ight NEED him for the playoffs so over extending him in a rather meaningless way could hurt in the long run

When was the last time the Phils hit a homer w/ a runner(s) on base?

Well, the giving is usually done by the bullpen, so this one feels even more weird.

A ray of hope
Our fantastic closer gets to face the 7-9 hitters in the bottom of the ninth (assuming all goes well in the 8th). Think he can handle it.?

Been wanting to ask those watching – how has myers looked the past few days – him getting back into shape would obviously be real helpful if (when?) Charlie finally gives up on Lidge (and his 3 years left on his contract?)

Small mistakes but has gotten by with them or pitched out of them.

It’s embarassing watching him out there. Literally embarassing watching him out there knowing he has nothing. Again I blame it all ok cholly at this point. It’s inexcusable to continue to allow this to continue. Inexcusable.

against Dunn?
extra frames unlikely. Either a whiff or a GS.
What really sucks is that if Madson does get the save….Lidge gets a Hold!

Thank you Jesus… The headline tomorrow better be “Lidge to DL”
"I tried to run him over but Eli had his big boy pads on and he kind of stopped me from getting in the end zone. The next time I’ll try to jump over his head.’’ - Asante Samuel
It should be, but why would we ever expect that it was?
by JasonB on Sep 8, 2009 10:00 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
I dont think it should be the end of Lidge, but he needs to go on the 15 DL and try and work on his stuff from the stretch (I think that is where he is having trouble). He can come back and get a few more chances and hopefully he will succeed, otherwise he can do 4-5 run “saves”. In the meantime, Park, Walker, Myers, Madson — ie whoever is fresh can finish out the games, also depending on match ups etc.
I see no other logical alternative!
To clarify, he can come back after being on the 15 DL and get one more chance. If he blows that it really should be done for the year. If he does well, then you can give him a few more chances and just see what happens. But no more of the “lets let him come around” stuff anymore, it is too late in the season and the NL East lead is not big enough for that kind of stuff.
It should be the end of him for this year
Lidge should be shut down for the year. No way should he be anywhere near the postseason roster. Shut him down and see how he looks next spring. 15 days on the dl didn’t help him last time and it won’t this time.
