Phillies 2010 Over/Under/Never Events: Answer Key Help Needed!

One last check before I run the numbers on this post.  Need a little help here with the answer key. I attempted throughout the season to keep track of this on the original post, but I know some of the notes I thought I made got lost in the scary back alleys of SBN serverland. Looking for some help and cross-checking. Results before the first pitch on Wednesday. Thanks in advance!

Any interest in a playoff edition? If so, what are your Phillies event nominees?

After the jump, this is what I have so far:

Star-divide

Cole Hamels berated by Chris Wheeler for "losing his cool out there/not having the right mindset/you just don't wanna do that kind of stuff out there."

Nope, he had a walk in that game. The answer might be “never,” believe it or not.

Agreed – never. But Werth did it twice:
May 5
May 30

July 28 and August 27 are serious honorable mentions, but I also believe the answer is “Never.” Amazing.

August 24 was also damn impressive: 0-7, 5 Ks. That was the infamous ejection game that forced Roy Oswalt to play left field and ultimately make the final out with the tying runs on base.

Howard’s SB = July 23

multihomer games

Shane did not have one.

Ross Gload had one on August 10. Not sure if there was anyone else before that.

by taco pal on Oct 4, 2010 2:42 PM EDT reply actions

And Ben Francisco in Game 161.

by phillyinportland on Oct 4, 2010 3:39 PM EDT up reply actions

CORRECT

I just checked every box score from the 8/10 back to opening day. There were some multi homer games, all by guys named Howard, Utley & Werth. The first multi homer game by someone other than those 3 was 8/10 by Ross Gload.

From memory, I’m pretty sure that Rollins’ CS came in the 16-inning game vs. the Astros. I’ll check now.

by taco pal on Oct 4, 2010 2:42 PM EDT reply actions

Correct! Gold star for me.

Was at that game. Remember watching it, had an excellent view. If only I knew then that it was an O/U/N event!

That game was the Happening of the year, though. Closely followed by the Thome homecoming collapse.

by Wet Luzinski on Oct 4, 2010 2:56 PM EDT up reply actions

Gload had RBIs off the bench in only four wins.

April 22 @ Braves
May 10 @ Rockies
August 6 vs. Mets
September 15 @ Marlins

Doesn’t look like any were game winners.

Howard's SB - Over

July 23 vs. Colorado. First home game after the season-turning win against St. Louis the night before. Bottom of the 5th, Howard on first, one out, three runs in to break up a 0-0 game. Howard stole second on a 2-0 count. Two pitches later Ross Gload homered. Phillies won 6-0 behind Roy Halladay. It was Howard’s only stolen base for the season.

by phillyinportland on Oct 4, 2010 3:51 PM EDT reply actions

Contreras - that would be "Never."

His control was way better than expected. Based on the fact that RAJ picked him up after – what? – 9 innings of relief last year for COL, any Baez bash has to be balanced by this signing.

by Wet Luzinski on Oct 4, 2010 5:38 PM EDT reply actions

Not to be nit-picky, and it changes nothing,

but for #8, the date was actually April 22. I noticed the error because Moyer’s outing that night was also the answer to #1.

by GTPinNJ on Oct 4, 2010 10:53 PM EDT reply actions

no, thanks, this is the nit-picking I was asking for. In the saving/losing/recreating over the course of the season, I figured there’d be a glitch or two there.

Cole

The only time I remember anyone coming close was in that Mets start- but I am not quite sure who said it, and it definitely did not go all the way. Really big turn around by Cole here- he is one of the great stories of this season.

Bobby Cox

As much as I was hoping that his “parting gift” would be leaving CBP several innings early, Bobby Cox managed to survive 9 games at CBP without getting ejected.

by dannijd on Oct 6, 2010 2:14 AM EDT reply actions

I know it is probably too late for a playoff edition, but I would love to see one...

Ideas for events-

Game winning RBI from a Phillies reserve.
Complete Game
Something involving the announcers

That is about all I have right now… the exhaustion is winning.

by dannijd on Oct 6, 2010 2:17 AM EDT reply actions

I’m going to have to miss my deadline for final results. I’ll shoot for tomorrow night.
