Sardinha returns

The Inquirer's Matt Gelb reports that the Phillies have re-signed journeyman catcher Dane Sardinha, who played a small but significant role for the 2010 club as a component of Cerberus when injuries to Carlos Ruiz, Brian Schneider and Paul Hoover forced him into action last summer. Sardinha, 31, batted .205/.225/.487 in 40 plate appearances, with the first three homers of his big-league career and eight RBI. With Hoover's departure, he's likely to be the regular at triple-A next season.
