Love the move.

For Who? My teammates.

For What? To Win.

How Much? Where do I sign?

If I remember correctly, Wilkerson was actually pretty good at one point. This is a sly move if he can provide some pop off the bench.

No downside to this.

Eh, whatever. Good Depth move/warm body at AAA for 1B. He had some pop in Montreal 6 years ago, but he’s a really pedestrian hitter otherwise.

He used to slaughter the Phillies. I have very bad memories of him.

OK, so I’m not just making that up. Yeah, total Phillie-Killer… Didn’t he once hit for the cycle against us?

I have a very clear memory of him beating us on a two-out ninth-inning homer off of Jose Mesa. It was in an afternoon game, and wasn’t in the year that Mesa was really horrible.

I swear I remember that too, but I couldn’t find it on retro-sheet just now.

Here it is from B-R. Gives me hives just to read it.

Cool – thanks for finding that. I remember it vividly. I was at the game, sitting behind home plate. The crowd was roaring for the 1-2 pitch. It was down and in to Wilkerson and he slugged it (or, as Wheels would say, “he dropped the bat-head on it”). The crowd went silent. It was brutal.

I was on the PA Turnpike listening on the radio, going to some godforsaken hot July 4th BBQ. It ruined my day.

My first thought exactly

He and Schneider both used to kill us on the Expos.

Maybe he’s due for a that last hurrah run.
