Man down: Polanco helped off field with "right knee strain"

Maybe our good luck with injuries is running out.

While trying to field a pop up near the pitching mound during today's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates, Placido Polanco went down in a heap and had to be helped off by a pair of trainers.  The Phillies are calling it a "right knee strain" for now (hat tip to Matt Gelb, among others), and we'll presumably have to wait and see what an MRI says before we know more.

If Polanco winds up on the shelf for an extended period of time, methinks we'll be putting a lot of faith in 2010 being a bounceback campaign from Greg Dobbs, huh?

Hm. Well that sucks.

Hmm...

Wasn’t this one of the worst-case scenario items that WL talked about…if that post becomes prophetic, we are going to have serious problems this season…

Not to mention some serious problems staying positive.

If that happens

I will rue the day Wet Luzinski was promoted. Damn you Wet Luzinski. Don’t make me sacrifice you at the base of the Harry Kalas statue (I’m hoping for that, at least, the statue, not the sacrifice).

Egad. Makes me want to rethink posting Acts 2-5 of The Curse of the Wet Luzinski. Guess I better rethink taking that tiki statue I found on Maui back with me to the mainland.

Don’t forget the flipside means that Victorino goes back up to #2 in the batting order. Also, Dobbs could use the A game reps after his lost season in 2009 (to say nothing of the fact that Ransom has been killin’ it in ST). If it’s a 2-week DL stint, what better weeks than the last two weeks of ST? One man’s tragedy is another man’s Redemption Song. Now that’s positive.

This is comforting.

No rethinking , just doing . We got an Hawaiian who can escort you , and the Brady Boys back to the mainland. Take Cousin Oliver along and scarifice his bad luck ass as an act of contrition to the Tiki gods. Stat. And oh yes I forgot, your ride…

With this offense, the Phils can survive a Ransom/Dobbs platoon for a month; any more than that becomes a problem.

Polanco added he is day to day. Could miss 2-3 days with no game Thursday. Thinks he’ll be fine.

I hope Dr. Polanco is accurate here.

Well this just sucks, who was it that was worried about his staying healthy? Can’t remember but it’s kinda ringing in my ear right now.
