I’d actually rank Nolasco higher than Rodriguez, personally. Your Nolasco selection was what prompted me snagging Kershaw the next round – I was going to take Ricky, and Clayton was next on my pitchers list.

Looking at your roster and seeing how you took my victor martinez., (I bet right after someone took your Mauer) that we were thinking along the same lnes. I didn’t think I’d get Mauer but thought I had a good chance with Martinez. I was gonna go C-SS-3rd ~~2nd – and start plugging in pitchers~~ then 1st but McCann wasn’t worth what I’d have lost in either a SS or 3rd. It’s hard to fill those infielders spots unless it’s 1st. And get this my first pitching choice after the studs were gone (which actiually suprised me) was Vazquez. Meshuggeneh.

Early on, I was looking at where the biggest drops were. At catcher, there’s basically Mauer, Martinez, arguably McCann, and then a whole bunch of nothing. That was also why my shortstop pick slipped to round 18; after Rollins and Bartlett were gone, only the Escobars and Andrus interested me, but they were all gone by round 10. Nobody showed any interest in the remaining shortstops, so I eventually took Scutaro so I wouldn’t forget to take one (and then grabbed Furcal in the 22nd round).

I believe Vazquez ended up high on my sheets because I was looking at xFIP. I don’t know how well that strategy will work, but it was worth trying.

I do have a feeling taking Affeldt in round 8 will end up hurting me. He was the best hold guy last season, but I should have waited a few more round before grabbing him, since holds aren’t a must-have category in most people’s minds.

I wanted to take a flier on a high upside/high risk Pitcher with my last pick, but settled on Saltalawhatever, because Catchers scare me in terms of injuries (none more so than Salty, but it was Round 25. Beggars can’t be choosers at that point).

Drafts are always fun

Though they frustrate me to no end. It’s amazing how no amount of planning can seem to prevent me from freaking out with back to back picks and the clock ticking away. And I invariably end up picking Hunter Pence, then immediately kicking myself (though Pence’s OBP and OPS are pretty good, his sub 60% success rate on steals will drive me nuts some).

I am having issues with the IR. It doesn’t open a spot for me and now I have an error that says I have 26 men on a 25 man roster though two are on IR.

It looks to me that MLB teams have not put them officially on the DL yet. I would imagine that once they have an official DL notation you would drop to the allotted roster size. As of now it looks to “the system” that you have put a healthy man in a DL spot.

Be gentle…I haven’t played in 2 years and I’m relatively new to advanced metrics (3 or 4 months). During that 2 year hiatus, I missed out on alot baseball outside of things related to the Phillies, something that I didn’t realize until a day or two from the draft. This prompted an all weekend long study session with copious amounts of Red Bull, 5 hr energy drink and coffee. Needless to say, by the time 8:30 rolled around on Sunday, I’d been without sleep long enough that with this guy

as my hallcinatory fantasy baseball draft co-pilot, I realized you can trip without the damaging side effect of illict drugs….then again after spending half of the next on the crapper, my colon protested this a claim.
