This is quite the intimidating lineup we’re putting out there

They need to get their timing down if they’re going to replace Riverdance

23 pitches, 20 strikes. 3 strikeouts.

Yeah, he’s alright.

I’d give him a strong “decent” so far

by packimop on Mar 4, 2010 1:31 PM EST reply actions

I’ve been digging around, but all I could find was the MLB TV stuff.

by PhillyFriar on Mar 4, 2010 1:32 PM EST up reply actions

I just remembered that Juan Castro is on a major league deal.

Well...

I’m happy that anyone whose going to pitch in the Majors pitched well today, and Escalona continues to dig his on grave. Now think, in another month this could actually mean something!

Also

Kendrick struck out two batters in two innings, I feel like I’ve walked into some sort of bizarre mirror universe where the Cubs have won the World Series and Sarah Palin is articulate.

It’s obviously a good rule of thumb not to read too much into spring training, but I’m likewise encouraged by what Kendrick was able to do this afternoon (and before the Yanks totally emptied their bench, too).

As for Escalona… one outing doesn’t necessarily mean anything, but his margin for error is very, very thin if he wants to beat out Bastardo. So, uh, that wasn’t an ideal outing for him.

by PhillyFriar on Mar 4, 2010 4:33 PM EST up reply actions

You are of course entirely correct and I agree with your assessment, but there’s a good reason I said “continues to dig” not “has buried himself” in respect to Escalona. :P

How’s that “Talk to the Hand” thing workin for ya?

Stroke of Genius: Stretching your Campaign Dollar; Running Mate / Hand-A-Prompter All-In-One

The problem isn’t her ventriloquism…she keeps forgetting Lil Billy is her actual hand which only is a problem if she doesn’t need to use her hand-a -prompter but the odds of her not needing it or realizing she has two hands…well about the same as running into Osama Bin Laden at a bris.

Escalona

Gave up that run on a fluky play. Let’s see how he looks the rest of spring training but he is a long shot at best to make the Opening Day roster anyways.

I wonder if we see Mathesion any time soon?

by j reed on Mar 4, 2010 4:50 PM EST reply actions

Tomorrow, in the B game against the Blue Jays.

Also of note tomorrow, Hamels, J.C. Ramirez and Bastardo (A game) all pitch, while Moyer (B game) goes as well.

(David Murphy has the pitching schedule through Monday on his blog.)

I’m watching the replay tonight, and as we noted last night, the legend of Bocock continues to grow and lengthen.
