Cody Ransom
Why did Brookover overlook him in the Inquirer piece? Instead he focused on Bocock and Valdez.
Also, I thought that RAJ’s comments about Martinez merited a low-level smug advisory alert, somewhere on the order of “Don’t Waste His Time.”
I saw him in a spring game in lakeland fl he looked pretty good I think he got one of the only hits halladay got blown up in second Phils lost but Ransom and Dobbs look good.

Only sort of. He hit 3 HR, 6 RBI in 37ABs, but tailed off toward the end and not for a high average. OBP/SLG/AVG of .250 /.459/ .189

I wasn’t refering to his bat. I know he is not known for defence but he made to great catchs to get out of innings with men on 2nd and 1st. I thought they were pretty heads up with nice throws to howard.

Oh, and I just answered my own question. It’s because he read Zolecki.

That first article elides something interesting about Brian Bocock: He didn’t just play for the 2008 Giants, he was the opening day starter at short. After hitting .220/.293/.328 the previous year. In High-A ball.
Seems like he’s pretty good at landing on teams that have no organizational depth in the middle infield.

Ugh, that boo-worthy, bromide-ridden column was awful. I’ll empathize only to the extent that some days you just have “C” stuff, but if I advertised in the Courier Post, I’d want a refund if my ad adjoined any part of that hot mess. Our baseline fan posts are more insightful.

We may have to lie back and think of Halladay. OTOH, the R-Phils have been swingin’ it.

It looks like possibly a BABIP issue. His K rate for those three seasons was 31%, 33%, 29%, (of at-bats) and his walk rate was 13%, 10%, 13%, (of plate appearances) so neither shows a big jump or drop. He’s consistently doubled 6% of at-bats his entire career. His homers dropped from 5% to 2% to 1%, so he may have some minor power loss, but his OBP steadily declined even though his walks and strikeouts didn’t change. I’m curious if it was related to Baltimore’s hitting coaches, since he was improving in the Philadelphia system.

Or he like the many a minor leaguer is experiencing sport specific plateauing. Not to worry baseball knows best….we know the mantra: repetition, repetition, repetition…..which is what got them there in the first place. Now If he is the at age that his grow plates are set, the connective tissue damage can really start to party. Don’t worry, this is not exclusive to our organization, the entire league is full of the same shit.
I see the Mariners have a pitcher by the name of Doug Fister. It’s too bad they don’t play Atlanta this year.
Meh
This delay in the Phillies letting us know about Rollins does not breed confidence. I fear the worst. (I am a Phillies fan, after all)
