That’s funny… Phils’ 3rd-order win percentage is below .500, despite being 7-1. The opposition has just been that awful.
W3, L3 (“Third-order wins”): Pythagenport wins and losses, based on AEQR and
AEQRA.
AEQR, AEQRA: EQR and EQRA, adjusted for strength of schedule: the
quality of their opponent’s pitching and hitting. If AEQR is higher than EQR,
the team has faced better than average pitching; if AEQRA is higher than EQRA,
the team has faced worse than average hitting.
and righty Michael Stutes combined for 3 1/3 innings of shutout relief to extend the shutout streak of the Reading bullpen to 12 1/3 innings
A bit of encouraging news considering our bull pen uncertainity. Is Stutes legit?
My understanding is that he could be a middle reliever someday, but that’s about it. Definitely takes a backseat to Mathieson and Schwimer (at least) in the organizational depth chart.
Well Mathieson, I believe should be up here now or within the month…he’s 26 and had two TJ surgeries. He’s either ready to go or perhaps he just isn’t meant to pitch either because he has a anatomical defect, was damaged from some pitching guru in his youth or we don’t have the coaching acumen to retool his mechanics to avoid reinjuring the elbow. Perhap a combination of the three. If he were to damage his arm again it wouldn’t be because he was rushed….he’s had plenty of time to recover….chances are an injury given his history would have occured at some point in the near future anyway.
