Happ has forearm "discomfort", may miss next start
More bad news for a pitching staff that has its issues right now: Jim Salisbury reports that J.A. Happ has felt some left forearm tightness, and that his next start (which would be Wednesday, at Atlanta) is up in the air. As Salisbury notes, "Forearm tightness can be nothing serious. It can come and go quickly. But it also can be a sign of an elbow issue."
Needless to say, the Phillies can ill afford another question mark in their rotation. Joe Blanton is already on the DL, while Kyle Kendrick and Jamie Moyer have hardly inspired confidence in their turns thus far. Furthermore, the organizational depth chart at the position isn't pretty, with options like Drew Carpenter and Ryan Vogelsong representing the best of a motley bunch (in the event the Phils would decide against using Nelson Figueroa in the rotation).
My two cents: if this Roy Halladay cat was all he was cracked up to be, he'd be able to fill more than one rotation spot.

it's time
Is Mathieson spelled M-a-t-h-i-e-s-o-n.
yeah but he can’t start. Still I’d like to see here stat. in the BP. I hope this doesn’t rush Mighty Joe’s recovery…that’s the one I am really concerned about. Jarrod Washburn is still out there I believe. Ha! Like that would happen. What am I thinking….Josh Fogg better start throwing.
I dont think we would have too much trouble finding a pitcher via FA. I mean Pedros still jobless. It might just be that the Phils arent willing to spend any more money.

The tightness is not in Happ’s forearm…it is in the collective sphincter of Phillies fans. The two are not mutually exclusive, however.

So I heard Lidge started a game last night. Maybe were trying to strech him out? It could work!
