Is it over already?
Pat Burrell designated for assignment.
I knew things were a little rough for him last year, but I didn't realize how far/how fast he fell. After four years with OPS of at least .875 (OBP at least .367, SLG at least .502) with the Phillies, he was .221/.315/.367 for OPS of .682 last year. This year, it's .202/.292/.333, and I guess that's not what they're looking for in a DH.
Gotta give him credit for one thing though -- it's not easy to still draw that many walks when hitting that badly.

Double-oops:
I looked in fanshots and didn’t see anything posted, so I figured I’d post it.
But a) I accidentally made a fanpost instead, and b) there was already a fanpost.
Sorry. :)
Don’t worry. Man or Machine? merits more than one fanpost when DFA’d.

It would be sad if it turns out that Burrell really is shot, considering how young he is, but at the same time, he would have nothing to be ashamed of. He had some good years, made some good money, had some good times, and got a ring. That’s not bad.
He could always help out at the bike studio if he gets bored.

I was thinking we could sign him to an associate blog lord deal.

His major was probably baseball and YOUNG LAAAADIES. Unclear. I think now that MattS has gone to Prospectus we need Veteran Clubhouse Presence to balance things out. I smell post!
