The Phils' Favorite Opponents
So I was scrolling through a few of the Phillies' lifetime batter-vs-pitcher stats, and some of them are so nuts that it's almost comical. All batter-vs-pitcher stats have to be taken with a grain of salt, of course, since they're all based on small sample sizes pretty much by definition. But still, it's fun.
So anyway, here are some of the pitchers that the current Phillies' hitters own (and vice versa).
(I wish there was a way to jazz this up a little instead of just having a wall of text and numbers to stare at, but hey.)

Holy crap @ Ben Francisco’s numbers against Sonnanstine.
Also, I love the fact that a lot of the guys our hitters crush are currently in the rotations of division rivals (naturally, I guess).
He prolly sees Ben in his nightmares…

Yikes. Some crazy numbers there. On a related note, it was kinda crazy that pretty much everyone Contreras faced today had some awesome numbers against him.

I think my favorite part of this exercise is that Utley’s craziest numbers aren’t even particularly crazy, relative to his career numbers.

I may be wrong about this, but as I was at the game when that happened, Utley may have better numbers post break. I think it’s a thing with him, and if it were me, I’d feel the same way. Idiot potentially cost him an MVP award.

It was, because every. single. time the Phillies face Lannan, the Nats broadcasters bring up how Lannan should never have been ejected in that game. He hit Utley, broke his hand, and then nailed Howard with his next pitch.

Here’s the actual clip. While it brings back bad memories, it’s somewhat entertaining to hear the back-and-forth between Wheels and Spaceman Sarge about whether Lannan should have been ejected.
He probably shouldn’t have been as I don’t believe the pitches were intentional. Even so, if he had no control of himself, he could have hurt someone even more.
