In an example of the 15 day disabled list actually only being fifteen days, backup catcher Brian Schneider has been activated off of the disabled list.He is hitting .167 (3-for-18) with two walks and three runs scored this season for Philadelphia. To make room for Schneider, catcher Paul Hoover has been designated for assignment. Hoover hit .278 (5-for-18) with two doubles, two RBIs and six runs scored in six games for the Phillies. Point to ponder: is the potential upgrade on defense worth the something of a downgrade on offense presented by the switch? Or are the improved offensive numbers given by Hoover only a product of small sample size and getting the opportunity to play every day as a result of the knee injury to Carlos Ruiz?
