Thank God there is Stanley Kubrick to remind me that there is joy and whimsy in the world. Otherwise this slump might warp me.

Agreed… I do not want to, but I do not see any evidence that it is alive— I think the question is whether we manage to stay over .500 and not fall any further down… I think Florida is going to catch us at the rate we are going.

I think we are officially Team Crapthebedicus Maximus
Saturday night in the postgame thread we discussd at what point this team would go from slumping to simply bad. I think we have hit it— the hitting is still cruddy, and now the pitching, which had kept the Phillies in some
of their games has fallen off the deep end too— I think we can officially add a pitching slump to the Phillies woes. I think we are going to get swept by New York (I have a hard time seeing Kendrick or Moyer at this point keeping the run count down enough to keep us in the game and an equally hard time believing that this team is going to score the 5 or more runs that winning one of their starts would probably take. I am at the point where I am nearing an all out baseball strike— no exceptions… I will start watching the team again when they behave like the team I know and love, not a punchless team that can neither pitch, hit, nor field.

Well, I certainly don’t think one game between asking the question “when does a slumping team become bad?” is enough time for the team to become bad.
It was two games, and I have vague memories of winning one of them, but last night’s little debacle combined with those twin pillars of awful known as Friday and Saturday led me to a conclusion that I was painfully close to drawing anyway. I don’t want to call them a bad team… But I am at the point where I see us getting swept this series and possibly next… 8-17 in their last 25 games… I see next
to no reason at this point to not call it.

Alright I was out getting a prescription filled and missed the first half of the game. Curious but did I hear right that Nick Swisher’s bat broke on that home run or was that Wheels prattle.

So can we ask the the Yankees crew if they will by play this Madien classic each time a Phillie comes to the plate.
Well the good thing is Happ-a-long’s arm speed improved. That’s was my biggest concern. I didn’t realize he’s been gone for 2 months. The only other positive is maybe Burnett’s two seamer will be breaking right over the plate and we can drill a few out of that Bizaro Yankees yard (isn’t it a repilica of the other stadium – same dimensions and what not).
I hope not— anytime anyone uses aggressive in describing one’s return from the disabled list I fear the chances of reinjury.

I didn’t see this game either but if broken bats are going out than the bank is not the easiest place to hit a homer must be yankees.
I wasn't even a year old but I stayed up to be outside the Vet with my Dad and Mom when the Phillies won the World Series 1980.

Here comes that pitching slump and the bats look to never come back. The team looks like they have no confidence when I saw the games in boston. Maybe they said hey we went to the WS 2 years in a row were getting paid so lets just take the year off.
