I propose December 22, 2012 for Daulton's induction ceremony
(the Long Count ends its cycle on December 21)
Honor is no substitute for victory.
Darren Daulton to be inducted into Phillies Hall of Fame. If anybody had any sense of humor, they’d schedule the ceremony in 2013.
The induction itself isn’t evidence of a sense of humor already?

Dutch has his faults, but he was a very good catcher for the Phillies for a decade. He’s not good enough for the MLB HOF, but in the pantheon of Phillies backstops you only have to be better than Bob Boone and Bo Diaz to become legendary.
Seminick was not too bad, but point well taken.

I personally would rather see Lieberthal up there before Daulton – crazy aside (and poor interpretation of mayan prophecy by all the doomsayers) – the whole stain / taint of the 93 team and the ‘juice’ – there’s got to be better optioins throughout the history of the team before Daulton?

I also prefer Lieby and have mixed feelings (at best) about the ‘93 team. Still, Dutch was a pretty good player, it’s not like they’ve nominated Lance Parish or Gregg Jeffries to the Phillies Wall of Fame.
I don’t know who is on it and who isn’t but in terms of ‘derservingness’ – would you say daulton would have been your next choice for enshrinement?

Also not knowing who is and isn’t on it, I can’t say. I should look that up before getting further into the discussion.
Looking at the full list, I don’t think Dutch is the most egregious member.

Tony Taylor and Larry Bowa seemed more destined to the wall of pretty good to me. These things are always just popularity contests, and Dutch was exceedingly popular. Go look through the list of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees it reads like a who’s that of 1950’s/60’s one hit wonders. I try not to lose sleep over these things.
I just put up a fan post who you’d like to see – and I just think if you were on the 80 starting line up and not named pete rose you should be there :)
I ignore the rock and roll hall of fame cause they put it in the wrong palce, quite undeserving (and seriously – put it in a place people like to come for history anyway as opposed to the arm pit of the universe)
I think it’s a nice thing to talk about – a fun distraction – i’m not really taking it that seriously though

SABR rage
If Daulton gets this honor, you could build a good case for Lieberthal too.
