Who's That? BROOWWWWWN: Diamondbacks at Phillies Game Thread, July 28, 2010

Arizona Diamondbacks at Philadelphia Phillies, Jul 28, 2010 7:05 PM EDT

And so the Domonic Brown Era (no pressure kid) begins tonight in Philadelphia, as CF Shane Victorino was placed on the Disabled List, and the Triple-A RF has been called to the majors to replace him.  Jayson Werth will slide over to center field.

Tonight will see a matchup of the Diamondbacks' Edwin Jackson, the Diamondbacks starter who famously pitched a very sloppy eight walk no-hitter last month, and the Phillies' Roy Halladay, who was just a little more clean an economical with his perfect game this Memorial Day weekend.

Fun fact: Jackson was born in (West) Germany.

Discuss the game below.

T-Mac says “the most heralded player in the Phils’ system since Ryan Howard”.

Hmmm, you think Cole Hamels would take issue with that at all? Or do pitchers not count? I thought he was pretty heralded—I recall lots of screaming to bring him up already.

I don’t think Howard was all that heralded coming up from the minors.

So if Ryan Howard is already nicknamed Big Brown among other things…what could Dom Brown be called? Little Brown? Big Brown Lite? Or nothing since he hasn’t done anything yet?

Sheets injury history includes: 3 surgeries – one for an elbow (missed last season), another for a broken ankle, and one for herniated disc. Also he has torn a tendon in his right middle finger, torn his latissimus dorsi muscle in his right shoulder (season ending) and has had a few bouts of tendonitsis in right shoulder. Over the last 3 seasons he’s averaged 21 starts.

But yeah his first few years were relatively smooth if you could believe it.

I hate this guy when he bats against us. But he is good.

Marlins just tied the Giants at 9-9 in the bottom of the 9th...

They were down 9-2 at one point.

Looking forward to the Kevin Kolb era.

Mets have the tying run (Beltran) at the plate, bottom 8th.

by essman on Jul 28, 2010 9:41 PM EDT reply actions

i guess it gets us closer to WC if they win, but I really can’t root for them yet.

by Bilzo on Jul 28, 2010 9:42 PM EDT up reply actions

Beltran is on my fantasy team. I’d looove another HR tonight.

We fuse them together.

he will not bat .667 for 15 days. non-issue

by Bilzo on Jul 28, 2010 9:45 PM EDT up reply actions

obviously not, but suppose he is very productive, like .330 or better with good number of runs and RBIs

Maybe Dobbs wasn’t our worst player tonight.

by Christopher A on Jul 28, 2010 9:44 PM EDT reply actions

The idea of RyHo causes disruption to the other team, even if he doesn’t produce. A bad RyHo is better than a good Dobbs.
