Another Extra Inning Walk-Off HR Win: Phillies 9, Reds 7
Holy shit!
Beyond that, I'm going to let the win expectancy graph speak for itself on this one. You can do the rest in the comments.

Which is only slightly lower than the .4% chance of winning Colorado came back from having in their win against St. Louis Tuesday night.

don’t worry…it’s all good. I’m pretty sure everybody is aware of how crappy he pitched, regardless of whether or not he got a decision.
Blanton’s not such a bad little pitcher this year. He just needs a little run support.

Nah… Cupcakes getting a no decision here was the world balancing things out. Last Tyesday, he had one of his better performances of the season, and left the game up by three runs with two outs in the eighth. Lidge came in in the ninth, and blew the save by allowing a two out, three run homer to tie the game and send it to extras. He later got the win, after the Phillies rallied with a three run 10th off of Rhodes (Rhodes has given up 5 runs since April— all to Philadelphia.) The bullpen robbed Blanton of a deserved win that night… It is only fitting that tonight, with the same opponent (and opposing starting pitcher) that the bullpen (and offense) helped Blanton get off the hook for the loss, with the Phillies scoring the same number of runs to win the game each time.

Personally, I think winning the game is more important than making guys who have bad games feel bad about themselves. But maybe that’s just me.
Yeah but if we still had Cliff Lee, we’d have let them get an even bigger lead just so we could have a more epic comeback.

Never, EVER
leave a Phils game early. I left the game against Pittsburgh early last year (to go to a lingerie or less-themed party) and had to listen to the end of it on the radio heading north on Broad. Epic

That, I forgive you for… anything involving near-nudity is an acceptable excuse to leave a Phillies game. LOL

all i can say is
wow. i wanted to just stop watching at the bottom of the 8th but i’m like nahhh just see if that get another fun or two. obviously i’m glad i did not stop watching. that was one of the best phillies come back ive seen in a loooong time.
okay i totally messed up
on what i typed.
i ment to say on the first line….“..i’m like nahh let me just see if they get another run.” not fun.

I am sure that the Reds did not think so… I just hope that they do not take their frustrations out on Halladay.

Biggest comeback I saw live at the park was in 1966. (Yeah, I’m old.) Pirates scored four in the top of the 10th or 11th inning and the Phillies came back with five in the bottom of the inning with a walkoff two-run single by Dick Groat.

I was a kid then so I guess I got a ride with some friend’s father. I don’t remember ever having vandalism problems when we went by car. But I did take the subway to the game a few times and that was enlightening. Walking along Lehigh Ave from Broad Street to the stadium gave me a perspective of the city I didn’t see in South Jersey.

Biggest ninth inning comeback, I assume.
I know they came back from 7-0 down vs. the Mets a couple of years ago, but that wasn’t all in the ninth.
They came back from an 8-run deficit at LA way back in the early 90s sometime. Nine runs in the ninth.
I stopped watching
Until I was called back to the fold by a note from a friend about the Ransom HR.
I’m so ashamed for giving up.
i was watching the original mortal kombat with my roommates when my boss texted me the ransom hr… i switched over at that point… then after the W, we turned on ‘black dynamite’. it’s a hilarious blaxploitation flick. i highly recommend it…

"Black Dynamite"
Quite possibly the single funniest movie I’ve watched on this deployment.

I almost flipped over to TimeCop on Encore instead. Glad I stayed around.
How's your wife and my kids?
Timecop is a valid excuse.

Interesting on the graph that there’s just a blip after Dobbs’ homer. I guess that’s based on the total number of times when a team that’s behind by two with one out in the bottom of the 9th has won, but still … that was a big hit by Dobbs.

I realize that I am just hallucinating, and that when the LSD someone put into my ice cream cone at about 9:15 wears off, I will see that the Phillies really did lose. Until then, I’m putting on Sgt. Pepper and watching the visuals I’m getting from “For the benefit of Mr. Kite”. Over and out.

So, I live in Indiana and had to suffer through the Reds broadcast(actually, they are not that bad). Anyways, it was priceless to hear how stunned they kept getting after each run was scored in the ninth and then the tenth was great. After howard swung, the one commentator just said, “We’ll see you tomorrow.” It was awesome.
thanks for sharing that. I went back and watched their broadcast of the phils last two innings at bat.
epic. I’d feel bad for them but for the fact that the Phillies lost to Minnesota in nearly the same fashion.

Yeah, I am not upset I missed that twins debacle at all. Probably how reds fans feel today if they missed yesterday’s game.

Ryan Madson
Phils are 8-3 in games in which he pitches.
Phils are 14-9 when Madson is on the active roster.
and 2-0 when hitting walk-off home runs against the Reds this week.

Excellent.
Of course, it’s a small sample size, but I’m going to conclude that the ticket to the Series is hitting walkoff homeruns in every remaining game.
UGH
Big Pelf wins bingo again. bases loaded no outs – Prado effing Prado hits a groundball back top Pelf , 1-2-3 DP. Pelf leaves innig without a scatch.
I think so
Probably depends on whether you think you’re chasing the Braves for first place or the Mets for the wild card. Right now I’m thinking about catching the Braves. But I can’t get invested in caring in July whether the Braves or the Mets win until the Phillies are behind only one team in the division.
