Ruiz may have been overlooked by the rest of baseball until this year but he definitely made his bones among Phillies fans for his play in October.

I really don’t understand why Chooch doesn’t get more attention? Is it because of the other guys on the Phils team suck it away, or is it that the Phils don’t really get as much attention as the other prominent teams (see NLDS afternoon starts)?
I have to think that if he had on pinstripes, we’d be hearing about him on ESPN on a much more frequent basis.

I actually really like our alternate day game uniforms without the pinstripes …except for the blue hats. I wish we wore our regular hats with those even though it wouldnt technically match the original uni’s they are replicating.
in 07 (i think) when we started wearing them we still used the red batting helmets and I thought it looked great.
Because he doesn’t put up amazing offensive numbers in the home run and RBI category, that is pretty much all ESPN seems to care about.

I don’t think it’s such an injustice. He wasn’t really ever a great hitter until the tail end of last year. Before that, he was an OK hitter by catcher standards but no better than that. And he appears to be a good defensive catcher but he isn’t Yadier Molina or anything.
he doesn’t get any attention because his offensive numbers are nothing to trip over… yet. i bet my boss that he’d finish this year above .285 (this was in april…) because as i watched the first few games, he really looked like he was starting to get it (at the dish). also his playoff #‘s are so good that you have to infer the guy has a clutch factor, and i knew that he would translate that experience to non-october games very soon. which he’s done all year long.
just once i wanna start a ‘vamanos carlos!’ chant… i’ve tried probably about 50 drunken times and nobody gets it… it literally translates to ‘lets go carlos’. we chant that for everyone else right? i want chooch to hear it in his native tongue dammit!

my mother was passing through last night, so after we finished dinner (wife gets home at 9..so it’s a late dinner) I turned on the Astros-Braves game when we saw the Astros had taken a lead. Tuned in right at the pitching change, saw the Heyward short-hop catch (seriously….he should’ve been able to throw a guy out @ second on that) followed by the little league grand slam. We laughed and laughed, and then decided a 6 run lead should be good, so turned it off.
Anyone else have a feeling
that Andre Ethier is gonna have a big night tonight?? KK’s been really good his last 3 starts so I cant help but feel he is due for rough outing. And as stated in the article Ethier hits him well.
But I also have a hunch that we bomb the psycho tonight!! haha
That video of the dude ducking out of the way and letting his ladyfriend get whacked is pretty hilarious. David S. Cohen he is not.
