One, I wasn’t the one who brought her up, and two, I probably am above you on that list anyway as long as we’re just talking about relative terms. To name only one thing, while I’m certainly too old to be thinking such thoughts as well, it would be a lot less creepy for me than for a guy who appears to have been born in 1971.
Bzzzz, try again.
And I guess from your handle that your friends with Taco from The League. Try his 3 Penis Wine, it does wonders.

Not a big surprise, all evidence indicates that 71 would b emuch too early for your birth. I’m guessing mid 90s

Valdez 0.628 OPS this year. 28 runs saved (RDrs/Yr) at SS
Rollins 0.695 OPS this year. 12 (RDrs/Yr) at SS.
Just sayin…
Well, not so much a dumb comparison, as irrelevant to the discussion of MVP’s. Basically, yeah, he’s not too far off from Rollins’ production, but of course Rollins isn’t a very good player any more, and realistically he’s probably better than a .695 OPS. Valdez/Rollins, if anything, are contending for the title of worst Phillies player getting regular playing time.
Not that I don’t think Bilzo understood that.
Rollins has played only slightly more than Valdez this year. Rollins’ WAR is about 2000% higher than Valdez’s.
Rollins is tied for the 12th-highest WAR among shortstops this year, despite the facts that (1) he’s missed over 60 games with injuries, (2) WAR is a counting statistic, and (3) he has a .251 BABIP this year. The statement that he “isn’t a very good player any more” is ludicrous.
Correction: I believe BABIP is factored into WAR, so point (3) should be a “because” rather than a “despite”.
It’s possible that Rollins’ BABIP will permanently remain this low as it was low last year too. It is also possible that it will go back to normal. But even if you assume that it will not bounce back, he remains a very valuable player.
Not a terribly important point, but I don’t think BABIP is factored into fWAR. Jack Moore’s recent Four Factors posts have dealt with what adjustments for BABIP might look like.

yes rujasu, glad you got the gist of what I was saying.
Valdez is by no means an MVP caliber player, but he has filled in for an former MVP caliber player, having a bad year, and has not been a significant fall off, either at the plate or in the field.
The Phils could have done much worse than Exxon at SS this season with Rollins being hurt.
I didn’t flick the royal coachman out there for TP. Just saying Exxon has been servicable as a replacement.
So what’s the royal coachman look like? Is it in the picture? I don’t know much about fishing but I worked with two guys who were hardcore bass fishermen and went out with them a few times. The one guy had this long chrome lure that looked like a piece of modern sculpture and everytime I used it, I caught the lunker. Needless to say, he was annoyed that a total noob caught the big fish of the day.
none of those up there are the royal coachman. The things you put up are all flies, and are streamer flies, meaning they are minnow imitations, as opposed to wet/dry/nymphs which are actually insect imitations. The two bottom right ones could maybe be wet flies but I doubt it.
I got into fly fishing about 15 yrs ago or so but didn’t really enjoy it. More expensive than normal fishing, all about the purity of it, at the expense of the fun. I have a much better time with spinning tackle. I’m much more into any kind of salt-water stuff and fill in with bass/bluegill/crappie when I haven’t been able to get to the coast in a while.
Here’s a royal coachmen (dry fly), which is one of the most recognized flies. Peacock is the green stuff, red thread in the middle, tuft of white, brown hackle, forget what animal the tail is.
You’re chrome lure description covers a lot of bass lures, but could’ve been anything from a spoon, spinnerbait, buzzbait, or possibly even a jerk/stick bait.
If the noob has any casting ability they usually skunk the veterans. If they can’t cast, they’re an annoyance as you have to dig their lures away from squirrels. I much prefer having the new guy catch more than me as opposed to me having to baby sit him and neither of us catches anything.

Conspiracy theory
From a comment at BR.
“yesterday on the giants v padres broadcast, fleming and i think kuiper were suggesting that the rockies were using un-humidored baseballs late in the games for the rockies’ batters. not that far out there considering how often they come from behind late in recent seasons…”
Did Florida officially shur down Josh Johnson? On Yahoo he is not the scheduled starter for Wednesday game.
All the reports here in South Florida are that he’s done for the year

JRoll MRI concerning
Would Charlie please refrain from any future medical prognoses for his players? Seems to be bad luck.
And the MRI results are....
Mild hamstring strain. Rollins will re-join the team tomorrow and is considered day to day.

So looking at the schedule..
Kendrick looks lined up to pitch 9/22 in Philadelphia against the Braves. Are you fucking serious? Ugh. I was hoping they could work Hamels/Halladay/Oswalt for both series, but I’d take Blanton over Kendrick.
by JamesFromPhilly on Sep 13, 2010 11:11 AM EDT reply actions
I understand that PT decisions should not be made based on past history....
but Kendrick has actually fared quite well against the Braves.
To point out that even if he does go, it is not necessailly an auto-loss.

Some teams will have that one pitcher they just struggle with. Tim Redding caused us problems that were grossly disproportionate to his ability relative to ours. Moyer often made the Marlins look like fools. I didn’t see anything exceptional in KK’s performances against the Braves to warrant such distinction esp. with so few appearances.
not sure how you came up with that. the way I see it:
Mon, 9/13 Blanton vs Florida
Tue, 9/14 Hamels vs Florida
Wed, 9/15 Doc vs Florida
Thur, 9/16 OFF DAY
Friday 9/17 Oswalt vs Nats
Sat 9/18 KK or Worley vs Nats
Sun 9/19 Blanton vs Nats
Mon 9/20 Hamels vs ATL
Tue 9/21 Doc vs ATL
Wed 9/22 Oswalt vs ATL
this gives Hamels and Doc an extra rest day and keeps Oswalt on regular 4 days rest!
Kendrick’s “normal” turn would be to go on Friday, which would mean he would also go on Wednesday the 22nd. So if Charlie were to make no changes to the rotation despite having the off-day available to him, then Kendrick would pitch twice on the homestand. But Charlie obviously isn’t going to do that, it would be madness.
yeah. I guess I should have said “not sure how any manager in their right mind would not shuffle the rotation a tiny bit, therefore preventing him KK from facing the Braves and getting him as few starts as absolutely necessary”.
Dear God Charlie better not eff this up!
I wouldn’t worry. Charlie has his faults, but an excessive love for Kyle Kendrick isn’t one of them.
tweet from Todd Zolecki implies just that: “Rich Dubee said there’s a good chance Oswalt pitches Friday, which would allow Oswalt, Halladay and Hamels to face Braves next week.”

Update on JRoll
From Murph’s blog: Mild Strain, will rejoin the team tomorrow.
http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/phillies/MRI_reveals_mild_strain_for_Rollins.html
I guess that’s good news. I hope he gets back before the Braves series to tune up his swing before the big showdown.
Yup. Here’s hoping that Rollins recovers quickly and that this lay off does not negatively affect his hitting.

Very true; Lohse beating Hudson was an unexpected but pleasant surprise.
I’d forgotten till I looked last night what his contract was: 4 years, $41 million. That should really drive home how great of a deal Blanton’s is — when Joe’s was signed, he was coming off a better season and had a far better track record.
Great point! People need to give Fat Joe his due. The man gets no respect in this town.
It seems like every other day that I hear or read some idiot lump him in with Kyle Kendrick as an indistinguishable two-headed “back of the rotation”. In fact, Blanton is a heckuva lot closer to the Big Three than he is to Kendrick in terms of both sheer quality and value per dollar (excepting Hamels from the latter).
I always use the old Adam Eaton argument to shoot those people down. Blanton gets paid less and is far more valuable to this team that your “typical” 4th or 5th starter signing.
Lex clavatoris designati rescindenda est.
I would almost be able to understand these folks’ inability to look past Blanton’s misleadingly high 2010 ERA if this was their first exposure to him. But it isn’t – he was solid for us for a year-and-a-half before this year even began. So what’s their excuse? It’s frustrating.
Wait, you mean the ERA and the WINZ!!!!! are not how you evaluate a pitcher
color them confuseled
