Phillies invite OF Young to Spring Training
Unfortunately, it's Delwyn, not Delmon.
Also, Schwimer and Stutes officially got Camp invites along with a few roster fillers needed to fill spots during split squad games and the like (Gosewich, Naughton).

It would actually be pretty funny if they invited Young Jeezy to camp, I think.
Pessimism of the intellect, optimism of the will.
I’m sure they’d invite Delmon is they think he’d accept…it is like the time I asked the hottest girl in the school to prom.
It’s cool. I got me a good women who bore me a boy. What else could you want?

The Cubs are trading for Matt Garza? Why? I think this Yahoo analysis is very sound. The Cubs are stupid.
Garza is a great pitcher, but the Cubs are no where near contention, especially with the rise of the Reds, the always strong Cards. I just don’t see the reasoning behind this.
I will say this, though: they will have one of the most batshit crazy rotations with the addition of Garza. Between Zambrano’s fits of rage, and this guy’s spitting, there’ll never be a dull moment on the North Side.
Aristotle was not Belgian, the principle of Buddhism is not "every man for himself", and the London Underground is not a political movement.
Not to mention a Brewers team with a pretty great rotation. There’s a lot of talent in the division.
So it may climb out of the cellar of mlb divisions. 2010 standings:
AL: East .532, Central .493, West .481
NL: East .514, West .506, Central .475
I think the NL Central will be better, and the NL West worse. It will be close but the Central may pass the West.
Andrew Friedman really is a smart guy.
I said this on Twitter the other day, but look at the package the Rays got in comparison to what the Astros got for Oswalt. I know, I know… service time and contract considerations play a huge role in any deal, but even considering the Phillies got Oswalt on, essentially, a 1.5 year deal for $20 million with a mutual option for $16 million, while the Cubs get Garza for three arbitration years (ballpark that at $25 million-ish), that return still looks heavy. None of the prospects are sure things, but I really like Lee as a shortstop prospect, Chirinos is a nice late bloomer as a potential starting catcher down the line (I saw one Chooch comp, actually), Archer is a solid enough bet to be a mid-rotation starter, and hell, I’ve actually always liked Sam Fuld.
I like the idea of inviting Delwyn to spring training, but he’s really an awful defensive player, so his “versatility” is somewhat overstated.
More than anything, I don’t like the rumblings that Amaro is done adding to his bench. The Phillies are in crying need of another backup infielder who can hit, and a legit center fielder. I’d still be talking to Willy Aybar and Adam LaRoche on the first front, and Scott Hairston and Willie Bloomquist on the second.
I’d love LaRoche.

Didn’t LaRoche sign with the Nationals? Or was that Andy?
Training for the Phillies 5K Run on March 26th. Hoping I don't embarrass myself :-)

Sounds like he’d be perfect for the Eagles. Reid loves guys who can do a lot of different things, but none of them well.
