My god, stay out of the comments for all that is good for you (lots of complaints re: Cookie's dough). Apparently Fat Joe is making good progress in Clearwater and Gillies of the Phillies is having a lovely fall.

Meanwhile Cody Overbeck, Tyler Cloyd, Colby Shreve and BJ Rosenberg audition for Rule V protection (or potential major league work next spring, depending upon how you look at things).

Is it so wrong to want Aumont to close for the forseeable future (excluding a Madson re-signing) and have Gillies play center field forever to just to get people to shut the hell up about them?

For the record, I am of the opinion, none of the guys in the AFL for the Phillies get added to the 40 man (except Gillies, but I figure that one’s fairly obvious).

I really liked Cloyd’s numbers last year but he probably won’t get Rule 5’d, so no need to add him.

My guess is that Rosenberg’s gone. Cloyd could be, as teams could stash him as a bullpen arm/long man for the season. I think it’s unlikely Overbeck or Rizzotti get taken, but it’s possible an AL team wants to take a chance and see if they can get some DH help on the cheap.

If there’s a chance Cloyd might get picked, then they should protect him. Maybe they won’t, but that woukl be stupid of them. There are going to be plenty of openings.

They may, they’ll have 40 man spots this month to put him on. But what if it means leaving Jiwan James off? I doubt James gets picked, but could he be any worse offensively than Mini-Mart, if someone does take him? I’m hopeful they don’t add Overbeck, but I fear they will because of Howard’s injury.
