We all know what Ben Francisco the ballplayer did last night. But, tucked into an Inquirer article today about his pinch-hit home run, probably the biggest hit of his life, was this little nugget about Ben Francisco the person. I'm a big fan. Describing the home run ball landing in the Phillies bullpen: "The ball bounced twice and into Jesus Tiamo's glove. The Spanish-speaking [Phillies] bullpen catcher held onto the ball. He offered it back later, but Francisco autographed the ball and gifted it to Tiamo. The feeling was enough of a memory."
