Phillies Claim Brian Schlitter
"Cliff Lee isn't the only pitcher the Phillies nabbed from the Yankees this winter. The Phillies announced that they claimed Brian Schlitter from New York off of waivers. Philadelphia designated Andrew Carpenter for assignment to create room for Schlitter, who was designated for assignment yesterday." [Edit: frontally paginated. You may recall that Schlitter was the man dealt for everyone's favorite LOOGY, Scott Eyre, way back when in 2008. He's 25 now, and has climbed steadily through the minors after being drafted in 2007 out of baseball powerhouse College of Charleston, and he's got some middle relief possibilities in his future. --PF]
