FANTASY BASEBALL UPDATE: Thanks to a generous gift from an anonymous benefactor, The Good Phight's 2011 Fantasy baseball league will be a CBS Commissioner League after all!
Obviously this is great news for us stat nerds, as the Commissioner League platform is much more SABR-friendly and will give us more freedom to put our nerdy twist on the league, not to mention the myriad other features it provides.
If you haven't yet applied for a slot in the league and would like to be considered, you have until 8 PM on Sunday. Go here and follow the instructions.

That’s Great Expectations right?
I was supposed to read that in high school

Wow.
What a deal. I only wish I was a fantasy sports kind of guy. :/

This is great. I’m now especially glad that I got over my shame and embarrassment to go through it all over again.
Thanks, benefactor!

I'd go with
Excuse me while I load up my page-turning hand with a good load of spittle, and then I’ll get started reading about this so-called “baseball.”

Seriously awesome. Having never been in a CBS league before, what kind of SABR options are available that aren’t elsewhere?

Just found out this morning that Harrisburg will finally be getting Phillies games on the radio starting with their Spring Training game this Sunday….lived here for 3 years now and this might be the best news yet.

What station? 1440 in York has them, but the signal coverage is not as good as 1350 used to be. If it’s 580, I’ll be thrilled.

ESPN Harrisburg, 1400.
Before moving here I used to live in York so I was able to listen to the games on there but after a 3 year absence I am glad to finally have the chance again.
Might have to go out and get a radio for my office for the day games… of course my office is underground and I get no cell reception so I would imagine radio reception won’t be that much better.

The building I am in used to be a state mental hospital…it’s a really, really creepy building.

Almost but not as bad.

The part I am in, or at least the hallway I am in is fine, but if you go around the corner, and through the double doors it immediately feels like you just entered a horror movie.

There's a lesson here.
ALWAYS remember to clean up the blood, broken glass, corpses and torture implements when converting your mental hospital/evil scientist lair to more mundane uses!
Even the best state mental hospitals are just places of despair punctuated by brief and infrequent rays of hope.
That would be a product of how our society still views mental illness

Wow. You’ve guilted me into apologizing… it was meant as a joke, based on the stereotypical creepiness of mental hospitals and asylums, but your reactions make me feel like I’ve been mocking the people you work/live/whatever with?
Please, if that was how this was perceived, understand that no offense was intended!
I took no offense at what you had said, just responding to the deplorable state of state public mental health that’s all.
It’s just the internet, as far as I can tell as what people think, I’m hated by everyone who knows me, I don’t respect anyones opinion (and i’m the worst poster libertyballers ever had because i’m the only person who insults folks). I’m also ignorant and stupid I’ve been told :)

You definitely are not the worst poster LB ever had…maybe the most polarizing at times, but there is a guy there now, truly, the worst poster I have ever seen.

He was the worst poster when I was there too (and he posts here as well) and I chuckle to read countless personal attacks thrown his way as that’s why i was banned – for personal attacks (sorry – i hate stupid0

Yeah he does post here every so often, and like you I laugh…mostly I cringe. I usually don’t go at him but I will highlight certain statements he makes for his utter ignorance. Others do a pretty good job at going after him so I don’t see the need to do so myself.

Always wanted to go to a Harrisburg Senators game. The ballpark on the island looks pretty neat, and unique.
I actually just went to my first game there last year,(which is sad because it’s 5 minutes from where I live)it was the night Strasburg made his debut for them.
It is a pretty neat park. They just did a ton of work to bring the place up to par with other minor league parks. Ironically they actually decreased their seating capacity by about 120 or so. The video score board is pretty big for a minor league park. But I have only been to a handful so I am not an expect on the subject. My only complaint, and this may have been done for a reason but I wish the park faced the river.
There are also batting cages and mini golf all on the island.

Harrisburg and/or Reading outing
There should be a meet-up for the Senators and/or the R-Phils this year. I was thinking about it this morning, actually. A Senators v. R-Phils game in Harrisburg would be perfect for a Harrisburg event.
In Reading, it really doesn’t matter, obviously, though Reading is probably much easier for the non-midstate people here.

You made it to Lakewood. Seems only fair. I’ve been itching to get to Harrisburg. Um, for the baseball.

Wow, Harrisburg doesn’t get 610? That is kind of shocking, I listen to 660 The Fan (NY) on days of NFL games and when I lived in California I used to get the Giants broadcast all the way to just outside Portland, Oregon.

Nope, we don’t get 610, or 1210, and hardly get any signal at all from ESPN 1410 in York which is a whole 25 minutes south of Harrisburg. It’s really sad.

That’s a sentence I never thought I’d type. Oh, well. Good luck to those who are in.
There’s still time, isn’t there?
