Congrats to Jose and the Contrarians and my condolences to FearTheTurtle. (Although, in a league this deep, having two picks in a row could be an advantage.)

Fucking Joy. I was last, last year. This year I’m second to last.

So is there voting for trades? That was something that didn’t happen last year.

Actually, don’t blown holds count as blown saves?

Hmm. You are right. Derp.

Helpful link. Did I mention Rob Neyer is awesome?

I thought holds could apply in tie games. It appears that they cannot. That seems sort of beat, but alas. At least the bullpenning bullpennery stat will work the way expected, though. Thanks for the info.

I’m holding onto the hope that having two picks in a row cancels out my last-ness. Of course, my terrible luck will probably both cancel out both, and my top 5 picks will all be suspended for PEDs.

Paul Konerko was picked in about the 19th round last year, for what that’s worth. There’s value to be had, especially this year, with 18 teams. The lower tier of MLB will be ripe for picking and many a team may end up with a Cerberus or two that could make a difference.

I actually find being first to be a bit of a detriment last year. It was awesome to get Pujols, but then by your second pick you’ve watched damn near every other top guy on your list get taken. At 18-19 you should get 2 very high quality players.

I have had the same thing in football (first year doing baseball)- I have won several leagues, but have Never been able to win with a team where I had the first pick (granted it did not help that I took Brady 1 overall in ’08).
