This was a very very disappointing week. 2-4???? Are you joking me?? To the Pirates and Nationals?? It'd be different if these teams were able to finish a season above 500. But considering I don't think the Nationals have finished above 500 since they were the Expos and the Pirates havent finished above 500 since before I was born (I think), I expect a little bit more.
I dislike the city of Pittsburgh sports teams. The Steelers are annoying (mainly cause the Steelers have won all these championships while the Eagles are still begging the football gods for one ring), the Penguins are.......the Penguins (do I really need to expand?), the Pitt Panthers just bug me. Essentially, from an outside viewpoint from someone who's never been to Pittsburgh and I base the following opinion on no evidence whatsoever, Pittsburgh sucks. I mean look at it. Even the name is in the PITTS.................*crickets*.............*cough*...............
Let's face it yall, it wasn't a very good week. Quite honestly, if the Phils didn't win today, I was gonna say fuck it, this week never existed, I'm not writing a review this week.
Now the MLB Draft is this week, and I guess you can say I am more clueless than usual about what's gonna happen, whos gonna be drafted, who the Phils are gonna draft, etc. etc. etc. There are people who get paid to learn about every which way about the MLB Draft, and I aint one of them. Now one thing, that is also happening this week is E3, or the Electronic Entertainment Expo. THAT I am excited about. There is a good chance I'm gonna go broke this year with all the good games coming out this year.
Mass Effect 3, Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm, Batman Arkham City to name a few. Theres a new SSX game coming out which I have high hopes for (I will absolutely destroy anyone in SSX 3. Anyone hands down.). Another Modern Warfare is coming out as well, and I definitely wanna continue the Misadventures of Price and Soap. What I'm looking forward to the most is NCAA Football 12. Badasssssssssss. (If anyone wants to do a TGP Online Dynasty, see me later)
Now, why am I rambling on about this random shit that has little or nothing to do with the Phillies, let alone baseball itself? Because this week sucked. 2-4 this week is not worth reflecting on, unless we are reflecting on how many times Captain Picard facepalmed himself. It just really sucks the only pitcher who got a win this week is Surgeon Master Halladay. We have this phenomenal pitching staff and to have most of them get losses this week is just pathetic and not worth while. If I hadn't already done it, I'd say this one is the case of the Red Uniform Murder.
The Bank remained quiet this week once more. All the games were on the road.
MONDAY- Doc Halladay took the mound and quite frankly, I'm really hoping Roy will have his own bronze bust at the Bank when he retires with three Phillies World Series rings at the ripe age of 45. Despite a few hiccups in the form of home runs by Nationals, Roy Halladay reigned supreme. Phillies Win 5-4
TUESDAY- And this is when it all goes downhill. I will describe this game in one sentence. Phillies Fail to show up, 10-2.
Isn't there s a phrase, "May comes in like a Lion but leaves like a Lamb"? Or something like that? cause thats what it was here.
WEDNESDAY- So John Lannan is pitching, I've started to think automatic win. Not to mention with Oswaltimus Prime on the mound, we got this right?????
..............
RIGHT?!?!?!?!
............wrong. Lannan gets that elusive win, 2-1. Nationals win the series.....
THURSDAY- Drown your sorrows in alcohol.
FRIDAY- K. Time for the Pirates. We got this right? And with Cole Hamels pitching out of his mind, this shit is on lockdown right?
.............
RIGHT?!?!?!?!?
.............wrong. The Phillies waste a masterful pitching performance by Cole Hamels, go to extra innings, then Dany Baez remembered he was Dany Baez and gave up the game winning hit. Pirates win..2-1 in the 12th.
SATURDAY- Well Kyle Kendrick was on the mound again. And the mojo was definitely against us, probably because PNC Park was actually *shocked look* SOLD OUT. It definitely wasn't helping the fact Charlie Morton was having a much better year this year than last year. Kyle had an OK outing, but offensive ineptitude was the story here. K It's now 4 in a row, Pirates win 6-3.
SUNDAY- Annnnnnnnnd we've gone through the entire pitching rotation without one win from someone not named Roy Halladay. So Roy went to the mound in the 1st inning, and he turned to the pitching staff. He shouted, "Ok THIS is how you pwn some bitches." Then the Pirates hit a home run. After that home run, Roy Halladay said, "Everybody gets one." Then he proceeded to melt faces and pwn bitches. Losing Streak Over! Phillies Win 7-3.
No theme this week, quite frankly the creative juices weren't flowing today lol, and it was a bad week, they dont deserve one this week :P
So it wasn't a great week. But it ended on a high note, thanks to World's Sexiest Man, Roy Halladay. And there seemed to be some offensive flash today.
This week has two sub-.500 teams coming to the Bank, LA Dodgers and the Cubs. We need to get some wins in now because next week will be a doozy with the Marlins comin to town, then the VERY NEXT DAY right after the last Marlins game, they fly straight to Seattle for Interleague.. Not only is the cross country flight taxing in itself, the fact the Mariners are starting to get heat up a bit isn't very helping. Oh, and based on my very rough calculations, the first Mariners game is against the reigning AL Cy Young Winner in King Felix Hernandez. So this is the week to get some wins in before a very challenging week next week.
Have a good week everyone!
