Only posted because this line looked a little optimistic to me:

Major League ETA: late 2012.

that would be awesome though…I love when top prospects make their big league debut

I guess it’s theoretically possible he could dominate AA and get a September call-up. If he appears anytime before then, it means something’s gone wrong because we’ve already got five major league starting pitchers under contract for 2012.

That’s pretty accurate, IMO. I also love prospect debuts. Unless they are done wrong and a guy who isn’t ready gets rushed to the Majors (Ankiel, Maybin, Hochevar, etc.) before he’s ready. Flaws are really tough to correct once in the Majors. Even if something went terribly wrong in the rotation next year, I’d rather see the Phillies trade for a Ted Lilly or Aaron Harang or whoever, than rush a top prospect up.

2012 does look pretty optimistic to me, so I’m in agreement here. The thing with Hamels was that he literally forced his way into the majors, and I don’t see Cosart doing that next year.

Me, too

I remember the excitement when Cole Hamels made his much-anticipated debut. 5 IP, 1 H, 0 ER.

Hard to believe, but since his signing was in 2002, Cole has been a Phillie for about one-third of his life.

I’d take him today over Kyle “I’m Terrible” Kendrick.

I could maybe see him getting a shot next season if Oswalt doesn’t come back, and someone else had an extended injury, etc…, but 2013 is probably much more realistic.

25.8/106 CURRENTLY HOT!!!
