It seems like it, because my tweeter feed is starting to fill up with comments about Vick and Maclin instead of Doc and Howard. Am I the only Phillies fan who finds this annoying?
I seem to be in the minority, but, while I live and breathe the Philies, I just don't have the same level of passion for the Eagles, Flyers or Sixers. Many of my friends and family are bigger Eagles fans than Phillies fans, so I am not really sure why I am different. Perhaps, I just enjoy the game of baseball more than the other sports. Or perhaps I just can't get enough after religiously watching the Phils through so many years of mediocrity. I remember when the highlight of a season was watching Don Carman take a perfect game into the 9th, only to have Milt Thompson ALMOST make a great catch to preserve it. Or when Greg Gross pitched 2/3 of an inning and got two strikeouts long before Valdez came to town. Those were ultimately disappointing years, but those were the years when I became a diehard fan.
In 2007, when the Phils made their improbable run to the playoffs, I decided I would not watch an Eagles game until the Phillies season is over. I guess I felt the need to give the Phils 100% of my sports-watching attention. I've done the same thing ever since. In fact, I typically don't read about the Eagles or hear much about them until the Phiilies are done. I try to stay in my little baseball bubble. I love this website and have been a long time reader. I have learned to skim over all the Eagles and Flyers conversations. On Twitter, I have had to unfollow a few people who lose their baseball focus. Am I the only one who expected David Murphy to talk about baseball through his @HighCheese moniker?
Ok. I am done ranting now. Enjoy your Eagles games. Just don't talk to me about them until the Phils are holding another WS trophy next month.
