It seems that with the trading of Ozzie Guillen from the White Sox to the Marlins and the likely departure of Mike Quade from the Cubs, Ryne Sandberg has ample opportunity to return to Chicago as a manager. It would seem that the Cubs would be the most likely destination, but reports are also surfacing that Terry Francona will be leaving the Red Sox and would like to manage the Cubs next season.
Personally, I'd hate to lose Sandberg. He's grade-A managerial material, as he showed in leading the IronPigs to the best record in their brief history and a playoff appearance. Most people on this site (myself included) and many others see him as heir apparent to Charlie Manuel. But if the guy gets a job offer, I'd be shocked if he didn't jump on it, considering how upset he was when he was not hired last year.
