I just think this is neat for some reason. Not sure why. Video’s from last year.

I also like watching Spanish language interviews of the guys who are actually from Latin countries. Even though I can only understand maybe a third of what they’re saying, it’s like you get a better sense of their personalities when they get to communicate in their first language.

My Spanish is rusty but I think near the end of the clip Raul was joking that Ryan Howard spoke Spanish and was a Cuban. Raul’s parents are Cuban, so he probably gets asked about the Cuban connection quite often.

I believe Raul was born in NYC, but mostly raised in Miami. Even if he wasn’t of Cuban descent, there’s a good chance he’d be bilingual. Spanish is the primary language in a lot of areas of the city.

Which is kind of neat, if I say so myself. Its almost like you’re in another country, but you don’t have to go through customs to get there.
