Phillies Non-Tender Nate Schierholtz

Goodbye, sweet Nate. I can't say I really care. - Dale Zanine-US PRESSWIRE

No contract for Nate Schierholtz and his no-longer-fractured big toe.

Nate Schierholtz will not be tendered a contract, according to both Todd Zolecki and Jerry Crasnick.

Schierholtz came to Philadelphia by way of San Francisco as part of the illustrious Hunter Pence trade/exorcism of this past July, along with catching prospect Tommy Joseph and minor league reliever Seth Rosin. He also arrived with open arms, having been less than thrilled with his playing time with the Giants. He played full time with the Phillies for 12 whole days before fracturing his right big toe and being sent to the disabled list. When he returned on September 1, he was mostly used as a pinch hitter and a defensive replacement. He had 73 plate appearances in 37 games, good for a .273/.319/.379 slash line.

You know what this means, right? More John Mayberry! Please, try to contain your excitement.
