Ruben Amaro Jr. has been quiet. Too quiet. Suspiciously quiet. Could it be that he's planning a mind blowing, earth shattering, pants shitting blockbuster trade or signing? Or perhaps it's because his best options are no longer available and he's simply not that impressed with who's left? THE WORLD MAY NEVER KNOW.
But while Amaro has kept the Phillies quiet during the meetings, several former Phillies have been on the move.
My beloved Joe Blanton decided that a drive across town was easier than taking a plane anywhere, and signed with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Joe Blanton's deal with #Angels is two-years, $15 million with third-year option. In other words, was nice knowing you, Mr. Greinke.

The Phillies traded Blanton to the Dodgers on August 3 for a player to be named later, who turned out to be minor league pitching prospect Ryan O'Sullivan.
Nate Schierholtz, who was a Phillie more recently than Heavy B, signed with... the Cubs? Really?

Schierholtz gets $2.25M guaranteed big league deal plus $500K in incentives, source says.

Schierholtz was non-tendered by the Phillies on November 30 and had no shortage of suitors once he was free. At one point he had nine teams interested in his services. Up until a few hours ago, the Yankees seemed to be where Schierholtz was heading, but it apparently came down to the Rays and the Cubs, with the Cubs winning out in the end.
Seriously, the Phillies have made no moves and the Yankees couldn't even sign Nate Schierholtz. I don't know what's going on here.
